I ordered my HT panniers last month. They had a 20% off sale on the units I liked and threw in free shipping.
Call 1 - established they had the units I wanted in the color I wanted, on sale.
Call 2 - confirmed my order, double checked my order and was told my panniers were built and heading out for powder coating, which could take a couple weeks, then they'd be back, packed and shipped to me. At the time of this call, they would ship my mounting brackets, which arrived 2 days later and were installed in mere minutes. It was suggested my panniers would arrive around the 2nd/3rd week of February, likely, BUT that wasn't certified and I should watch for an email from Heather with my ship date.
Email arrived, with a ship date of February 28th...hmmm...that's not 3 to 4 weeks as originally suggested. There's an extra week in there now. Oh well, no biggie.
Email from UPS two days ago that Happy Trails was shipping me a package! Could this be my panniers, earlier than expected maybe? What? Shipping weight is 2 pounds...wtf is that?! Not panniers, that's for sure.
But there are only two things left - the panniers and mounting pucks. Surely they would ship the mounting pucks at this random time? Surely they'd save themselves the cost of shipping the pucks to me and send them with the panniers? Surely you jest! ...and stop calling me Shirley!
Mounting pucks arrived today and no sight of the panniers. I expect they'll arrive in early March, because that's what Heather said, and its beginning to look like strange thinking is afoot at HT, so whatever Heather says is what happens...LOL Remind me to bring flower for Heather if I visit their offices.
So, let's see, what kind of deal am I getting here...?
20% discount on hard bags I wanted - check
free shipping on racks - check
free shipping on mounting pucks - check
free shipping on panniers - check
exhausted UPS staff - check
several trees processed into shipping stickers - check
enough cardboard to reforest Guatemala - check
If I may paraphrase one of SNL's funniest all-time skits, D*ick In A Box, they should have kept the mounting pucks and simply "put that junk in a box" when shipping the panniers. Would have saved them a few dollars in shipping. And you can't tell me there isn't enough room with the panniers - they are empty boxes!
