This is what I have done to reduce the angle at which the seat slopes forward whilst in the low position.

Parts needed:
2 off Short Bumper pt no: 22W-24741-00-00
Can be found here: https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/search/part/22W-24741-00
1 off 2.5mm(0.1") thick washer or multiple washers

Instructions:
1. Remove the 2 rear bumpers and the 2 middle bumpers
Then fit the 2 new short bumpers to the rear holes
2. Remove the 2nd rectangular bumper
Then take one of the original bumpers and fit it to the vacant hole
3. Remove the latch bracket
Place the washer under the latch bracket and then fix back in place

The new bumper arrangement allows the seat to fit snugly. A slight downward pressure is required to close it and release it when operating the key in the lock.

It is a simple fix and makes a good difference. I use the seat on the higher position, so I had to replace only two pads (middle ones). I also used a 3rd one in the bracket.
I've seen suggestions of drilling the bracket, but I preferred instead to cut the pin in this last pad and use a heavy-duty double tape instead.

Nice! I will try this on mine as the forward lean is starting to get to me. How do you like it now that you've had it this way for a bit?

With the original standard "tilt" angle, my buttocks would start to ache after about 1/2 - 1 HRS of being in the saddle, since the mod I have ridden about 500 miles with time in the saddle extending well past the hour without problem. In fact my backside as not ached since the mod.

Note: I did not fit a spacer/bumper to the tang at the rear of the seat because the replaced bumper at the front holds the seat firmly in place.

Hope this helps

I completed this seat modification today. Ordered the smaller bumpers a couple of weeks ago but wanted to wait for a milder day to work in it. As mentioned in a previous post, I removed the seat receiver that bolts to the frame so I could drill it from underneath and not at an angle. It looks like the seat angle is way better but I couldn't sit on the bike as there are no wheels on the bike right now. Can't wait for spring to try it out.

Thanks to all who posted pictures and part numbers to make this a really simple project.

I hate to say it, but this did not work out for me.
It did level the seat as advertised.
However, it put the seat in a position I was just not comfortable in, especially commuting.
I'm back to the stock low position. at least it was a cheap experiment.

For me the flat seat mod mostly cured the sliding into the gas tank sensation while riding. The stock seat is horrible for me in general after about an hour so the mod fixed one issue but not the major one (sore ass after an hour).

I did drill the seat stay in both places and inserted rubber bumpers so I can move my seat from high to low and still maintain the flat seat mod in both positions.

As an alternative to lowering the latch, I used a heat gun on the tang on the seat base. Heated it, bent it just slightly, then cooled it off. That eliminated any play in the seat.

I have the seat concepts that you fit yourself. Is the cheapest way for us in the UK and they are really good. The Touratechs are kind of duel use so not the best for long days on road. You should find it easy to move on if you don't like it as well.

Luckily I got mine from a forum member from UK. Am sure they would ship here.

@Nissbird Thanks for this! I was having to stop and walk around about every hour on my 2018 S10 prior to doing this flat seat mod. Huge improvement! Adding a sheep skin or airhawk to the now flatter seat makes it perfect for the long rides.

What is Nissbird referring to when he refers to the "rectangular bumper"?
I have a Yamaha OEM lower seat which I have began riding on.
It's an improvement in lowering the seat height, but certainly not as much as advertised. I'd say this lower seat reduces the seat height by 1/2 inch or 12 mm maximum.
I've just ordered a set of five short bumpers. I will have them in a few days and I am hoping to install them on under the lower seat. We will see what happens.
Thanks for the detailed information on how to install the lower bumpers.
Just confused about the rectangular bumpers.

In the original post in picture #3 you will see two black rectangles at the forward end of the seat pan. In picture #5 he has replaced one with a round bumper.
Yours,
Rick
