Mak10 are you riding two up in that? Saw your double entry on next weeks DV ride and thought you might be riding to it?

I left Delta and headed South on hwy 257 towards Milford. Not much to see here other some Atv trails heading towards the Cricket Mountains. This road was flat and straight. I came upon a sign that said Indian petroglyphs-Parowan Gap. I detoured that way and had been watching this notch looking spot for quite some time going down the road.

I’m glad I stopped as it was a nice break, and the petroglyphs were really interesting. One drawing marks the setting sun year round. 0B5293B3-B8BF-4736-ABC7-834871E2C055.jpeg7CE4FFFB-18E1-429C-A040-7A38F2C44C9F.jpegEA9CB356-DE21-4B38-8E7A-02AB9D2BCDC6.jpeg

From here it was on to Cedar City. I stopped grabbed a few snacks at the supermarket and was greeted by a guy who wanted to know all about the Yamaha. He had just bought an Africa Twin. He really liked the Yamaha but no dealers had one he told me.

I ventured on looking for the road towards Kolob reservoir. Upon finding the start and the road turned from paved to gravel I came across a guy coming down. He stopped and said there was a lot of snow and the road was impassable.

Going back down I passed a truck pulling a trailer full of snowmobiles.

I resolved at this point being alone it was gonna end up as a road ride.

The nice thing hung about riding a Super Tenere is that road or dirt, it’ll get the job done. I hopped onto I 15 and was going 95mph staying with traffic headed to the Hurricane/Zions exit.

A sign popped up saying Zions/Kolob Canyon Viewpoint so I exited I 15 and entered the Kolob Canyon portion of Zions.

It is still early and cold. It got down to 25f and every thing was covered in frost. Went to starting the bike and it struggled but fired up. I was headed up the road to get something to warm me up at the diner up the road.

I was in some soft sand and didn’t turn off the TC. It killed the bike. Now the bike didn’t want to start. After multiple tries she finally did catch. Battery is just barely adequate. I did have a back up jump pack. Glad I didn’t have to dig it out.

Nice Ride Report! You picked a great time to go - a lot less traffic, and bugs. I've ridden through Zion NP several times on my way to the New Years ride in Vegas. Other than some ice here and there on the roads I prefer it to being crowded with RVs creeping at 20 mph.

A couple of those pictures are from Bryce Canyon. The park itself had limited spots open as there was 2’ of snow on the ground. I feel bad for those who had to pay to get in the park. 9D9C6FCA-3642-4B4D-A5FB-D2CED06720E3.jpeg

Highway 12 has got to be one of the best Motorcycle roads. It has slickrock, mountains, twists, turns, pine trees, and unbeatable scenery. I’ll be back. I should have taken this route down and back. It’s that good. B339A807-B665-4A4C-83CE-E4DDACAB72E7.jpeg

I came into the little town of Escalante and there was a hamburger stand called Nemo’s. Excellent jalapeño burger and fries.

As I was sitting there enjoying my lunch, a guy pulls up all excited asking who’s riding the bike. Everyone points to me and he comes over to talk.

He runs a motorcycle repair shop in town and was excited that it was finally time that bikes were showing up.

I told him how much I was enjoying Highway 12, he asks which way I came from. Then tells me the way ahead is the best part. Most twisty, up, down, no guardrail, mountains up to 10000 feet. I thought he was pulling my leg.

Nope, he was spot on. Awe inspiring road. Up to almost 10,000 feet in elevation. Then back down through the pines all the way to Torrey Ut. Wow.
