Hope it all turns out good for you Tim.
I've broke a few bones riding and it's all part of the game. But you know that.
Yep, sure do know that! The orthopedic doc immediately noticed all the old scars and such on that foot from when I got T-boned by a Buick Wildcat on my way to school on my old two-stroke Italian Harley when I was 13.

I'm already itching to be back on the bike, but at my age, I'm gonna do all the therapy and wait until Doc says the ankle is ready.

I don't see how guys put their tents in a side box. Haven't you ever camped in Iowa? Dew everywhere, How about picking up in the rain? you just put a soaking wet tent in with your other stuff?

To b honest, I’ve never been camping in the rain. If my tent was wet it would get strapped on top of the hard boxes

I've made the trip between Texas, and New Hampshire numerous times. And, I've never been able to get through the TN-VA-WVA portion without hitting rain, either to or from. But, if you didn't have the rain. . . . you wouldn't have the green. And, that's what makes it beautiful. :)

a year and a half ago , we camped at a state park on the way to big bend . no rain , but the dew was so heavy that everything exposed was soaked . shook off the wet tents put them in their stuff sacks and back in the panniers . 5 hours later out and set up in big bend , completely dry by evening . no harm no foul.... spent three days at a camp in kerrville Texas , rained for thee days . when we broke camp put all the wet gear on the bikes and went home , about a 5 hour ride . took everything wet and hung it out to dry , no mildew issues ever.

im thinking if I left the wet gear locked up for days with out fresh air getting to them then mildew might be a problem ...... I have spent weeks living in the field in tents (and it seemed always to rain or have heavy dew ) while in the army ..... moved and set up wet tents constantly , just can't store them wet .

eemsreno. The Guru of Gravel, the Sultan of Sand, the Dominator of Dirt, the Super Ten Superman, the Mountain Pass Magician, and one heck of a good guy and gentleman! Thank you, Steve. I learned a LOT from him and MAK10.

My Beverly Hillbillies packing job on my bike. Definitely NOT the correct way to do it! Steve and Mark showed me a much better way.
