Twisted Throttle had a retail outlet near me in New Dundee, Ontario and I was a frequent customer there. I felt like a kid in a candy store, lots of goodies and friendly staff. 4-5 years ago they closed that store and moved to the Toronto area so I continued buying tires and accessories online and always received great service. This week I tried to log onto their .ca website and it’s gone....... apparently amalgamated with the .com site and there is no longer any listing for a Canadian retail outlet. Sad..... but a pop-up appeared explaining how Canadian buyers can order from the USA site and still get the free FedEx shipping, any duties and taxes calculated at checkout and a promise of no additional broker fees or charges from FedEx. Billing is in $USA.
So I ordered a pair of tires, at checkout there was no duty, no shipping, just 13% HST. The tires arrived at my doorstep from Rhode Island in 3 days, no charges from FedEx. Anyone familiar with ordering parts from USA to be shipped to Canada knows the extra shipping costs, duty, broker fees, service charges can easily add 50 to 80% to the cost of the parts, so this new service from Twisted Throttle sure is a breath of fresh air.
BTW, the tires I bought were the set of Mefo Explorer that they have on clearance at $142 for the pair, a smokin‘ deal but they are 4116 date code. I used to run these on my KLR with good results, may not last as long on the T12 but worth a try at that price.

Do the Mefo tires have the load capacity and speed rating for the Tenere? There was a reason why I've never looked at them, I seem to recall they didn't come in the right size.

Front has load rating of 536 lbs at 36 psi, rear is 716 lbs at 44 psi.86F1E592-433B-4482-9209-866F83764E61.jpeg
Size is correct for T12, bias ply, 4 ply tread and 4 ply sidewall. I don’t know the speed rating but they will be fast enough for me!

I've never rode a bike with knobbies, but those look like they would be thumpy, thumpy. Does the tire roll fast enough to not feel it?

You only feel knobbies at very slow speeds (10mph max). There is really no advantage to them if you don't go off road because they don't last as long as street tires. A K-60 or Dakar on the other hand are fairly aggressive tread patterns, but not quite knobbies. However, they last much longer than most street tires.

I definitely feel knobbies at highway speeds. And the noise. Especially as they wear. 73F1B09C-B05F-436F-9D6B-71DE46FE30F3.jpeg

I remember when it was "A Vicious Cycle", before Twistedthrottle bought them out. Shame they killed off the store altogether. I liked the vicious throttle guys, they were great to deal with.
