Dear community
I am in the current dilemma for inexpensive soft luggage. The tusk pilot seem a great and cheap option. However I do not have a mounting rack and that would be an additional 200 dollars. It may be better to go with a rackless system like the highland. Does anybody have experience with the highland system? Is it really functional without a rack at highway speeds?
Thanks a lot

Resurrecting this old thread. I am interested as well. I called Rocky Mountain ATV today and they said that the Tusk does not have a rack for the S10.

Depending on your rear rack, this may also be an option for soft bags. LINK Although, not much cheaper than other options. :(

Hi,
Just came across this post while doing research about the highland system. Just wondering if you ended up going for it and, if so, what you think of it?

i use givi 25L waterproof bags on the plain (ie non-camlock) givi racks. reinforced bottom inside corners with thin ally angle which sits nicely on the wee lugs on the bottom of the hoops. i have tupperware containers in the bottom of each bag which helps retain shape. bags themselves were USD$150? pair from memory. they make a non-hi vis version of this bag.IMG20220321154147.jpg

Hi sheikyerbooty,
Thank you for the info, looks like a valid option. I am thinking of a rackless soft bags system. Couldn't find any relevant information or pictures when it comes to Super Tenere.

Maybe let me know how this goes for you?

I have factory Yamaha hard bags and a set of Tusk Pilots. I don't want to use the hard bags unless I'm doing easy miles.

For offroad, I'm thinking Outback Mototek racks and Tusk Pilots. As an alternative I'm thinking of the Highlanders...and forgoing the racks.

Ended up with set a of jesse hard panniers - so far so good, but I don't do hard off road.

I have the Tusk soft panniers and have them mounted on the Givi rack. I also ordered the Tusk back panel for the panniers and have the Panniers mounted on them.
I made some brackets so they are now quick release using one thumb screw.
love the Tusk panniers and they are very well designed and made with top end materials.CB8D705E-F2A4-49CF-9E85-D2D5A25FE234.jpeg
