I think the 19" front would keep the SAS from being competitive in a head to head showdown. But I'd be curious how it would do in a 0 to 100MPH drag race.

I've read that the new Tiger is greatly improved. I was wondering if any of this bike went into the Tiger.

The new big Tiger is an enormous bike. When CW and I went out to Romney to talk Camp N Ride they had one on the sales floor. That is a massive machine.

The new Tiger gets released in '23. Was the one y'all saw a new one, or the last gen? One of my buddies had a '17-ish, and it looked large. But not as large as a GS. Fun fact: on his way to sell the bike, the fuel pump went out.

Not sure the year that was there. I've been around GSAs. That Tiger struck me as the biggest adventure I'd ever seen. It was on the center stand. I was thinking there's no way I'm big enough to get this thing off the stand and feel confident it will do what I want when it gets down.

The newest Tiger 1200 has shed weight and is a good road bike. The triple engine is just to big though. KTM have redesigned their fuel tanks to get the weight lower which pays off. Triumph can not do that. The Tiger 900 engine design changed to give it better low down torque and now it has vibrations. I rode the original 1200 and it was a tank. I think the S10 design is clever with the radiator and electrics on the sides so they could distribute the weight better and that pays off. With no boxes on the S10 is not such a big bike. I find it very easy to ride i dont feel im on a big bike. Its only when moving it around you feel the weight. For me i dont think Triumph make a great ADV bike. Yamaha make 2 and so do KTM.

They were the new 2022 1200s in both regular and touring versions. Kinda big for anything more than gravel but really nice.

The new KTM 890 will wipe the floor with everything else. Am looking forward to the very honest reports on it from DD.

WOW... that would be just way to much fun ! I dont live in the right area to utilize either machine. We are many hours away from "out in the country" twisty roads. If I lived in East Tennessee I would probably own one.

Im just too old to understand what I could do with the money, not needing to pay for all the speeding tickets I would be getting. LOL

Naahhhh - DD can't give you a "very honest report" because he's smitten with it.

Me, too...me, too.

Smitten is a bit strong. I've never ridden one. I once rode a 790 R and was underwhelmed.

I'm definitely intrigued. I'm buying based on my trust in KTM's philosophy on delivering performance. Donk, a fellow 1290 owner, saying the 890 is quicker, sure didn't hurt.

I think I can be objective on the 890.

I think the SAS might get jealous
I'll never say never...but the idea of anything unseating the SAS is inconceivable. 28 months and still firmly planted in the, "most entertaining bike I have ever owned (or ridden)" position.

Ridden both the Triumph 765 and the 890 Duke R. Both are really nice bikes. The Duke R is hands down the better bike. And yes Dirt Dad it would beat the SAS in a drag race to 100 even easier than my 890 Adventure would! You'll see soon enough.

To the best of my knowledge there is no 765 Adventure bike. There is a 660 and 900 but those engines are different. The old 675 and 800 shared same architecture but I believe new engines are different designs, different cranks and firing order.

That's just hard to imagine...exciting, but hard to think possible. I'm really looking forward to expanding my understanding of motorcycle performance. Is it January yet?
