How's that baby\family?
Doing great! Added another stinker to the mix 18 months ago.

I'm done with all that baby making stuff, so now the boss will let me get back into riding again. Ha! I've missed the Tenere family!

I found a great deal on this Jayco Octane 222. A bit heavier than the wolf pup but it does come with more. i got a great price on a leftover 2015 model in 2016. Pulls easily with a 2015 Toyota Tundra. Weighs in around 5000 lbs. https://www.jayco.com/tools/archive/2017-octane-super-lite/222/

Sometimes use it camping with the wife so the extra room is nice.

Good to see you back around again Karson.

What's up Steve?

Love the Jayco brand. Kind of sad to see they got bought recently by the BIG boys. That does not bode well for their products a few years from now. Odds are, they will become "just another graphics package".

Once you get past about 19' and\or 5000 lb, there are endless choices in the RV world. Dizzying. Fortunately, almost anybody can get 30% or more off MSRP in this industry. You don't even have to a smart consumer, in that regard. Thankfully for me and my pathetic impulses.

That's not what you mean? :)
;)

I mentioned your new toy hauler to DM. We had considered one years ago when we were doing family ATV vacations. Hadn't thought of them in years. DM loved the idea of what you're able to do and was trying to figure out if we could tow one with her Ridgeline. The answer is yes if it's like your new one, but she wants to put all 4 bikes inside. Can't imagine a feather lite is going to fit all that.

Re: Toy Hauler

The only way to get 4 in a 17' is if one of them is a kids bike. It can fit in the narrow hall up in the nose.
With custom chocks, getting 3 bikes in is doable. But you would HAVE to take a couple of them out to enter the door and get to the bed.
That Falcon 23 that BigBob revealed is actually almost identical to the Wolf Pup in the garage area. But look closely and they put the entry door up front between the kitchen and the bed. That certainly makes accessing the camper section completely independent of the garage area. However, that pretty much means the additional length does not support expanded garage space. With tandem 3500lb axles, I suspect it has a higher weight capacity, but with motorcycles as the primary cargo, both haulers can handle what we guys are throwing at them.

Here are some real world bike chocking methods in the tiny Wolf Pup.

This first fella uses a custom chock that you can get built to suit for about $300?

This is how it is designed to attach to the Toy Hauler OEM D-rings. Pretty clever I think.

Same chock builder but for 3 bikes and mounted in reverse. This would only allow for skinny dirt-bikes, in my opinion. I'd stagger for 3. 2 facing out, one facing in.

I use a poor man method with Harbor Freight chock. Takes 2 minutes to rig up. Remember, I did this on impulse and was ecstatic to buy a brand new toy hauler for less $cash than I had in the dirtbike I rolled up into it!
(full disclosure....I got my chocking method from another inmate on here that has a wolf pup for his Tenere. Found him on the Forest River forum. Small world!!)

This guy went all out and spared no expense in his rigging! Looks awesome to me.

Anyways, thought it might help to see the "scaling" of these tiny lightweight easy tow toy haulers.

NONE of this applies if you just go get a traditional Toy Hauler. They're Bigger and with far more amenities. Some with massive 14' x 8' garages!
But they are getting towed with 900lbs of torque diesel duallys. Awesome rigs! You could fit the wolfpup IN their garage. ::013::

Great idea on the chocks. Is your name the same on FR forum? I haven't been on it for a while. I have a '16 MBS chassis Foester. I haven't pulled my Tenere anywhere yet. I use it to haul my 4x4 quad, RZR, and sometimes my jeep

Yep. I'm snakebitten all over the virtual world. I can't hide or pretend. Busted!

Forum junky, actually. We live in amazing times. I've even learned how to cook on the internet.

That MBS is worth more than my Tinyhouse, Tiny Toy Hauler, and my Tow vehicle combined!

They're saweeet.

It's a nice little diesel. 14 MPG and only drops to 12 when towing a 12' trailer with 4 seat RZR on it. The RV before it was a fifth wheel toy hauler I used mostly for the dunes with my 2 seater rail. My wife wants a vintage camp trailer also, but that ain't gonna to happen

I like those chock setups Snake! Thanks for the ideas! I was already looking into the pitbull restraints earlier this year. We did 51 nights in this rig over the summer. Wife and two (of four) boys. Only took the S10 and had a TERRIBLE time keeing it strapped down. I have a Mor-Ryde SRE4000 suspension on my 5th wheel. It does a good job of saving the trailer frame, but gets bouncy which compresses the bike shocks and slips the tiedowns.

We will be selling our house in June 2018 and fulltiming for the summer. We'll settle down in Walton County FL for the 2018-2019 school year while we look for property. It's obnoxiously sized (41 Foot), and limits our ability to get into a lot of places I'd much rather be with a smaller trailer. But it sleeps 10 with room to spare and has two bathrooms. Necessary with teenagers ::) We are already shopping for our next rig. I say shopping as in I will never go into buying an RV without doing years of research again. Our oldest boys will all be out of highschool in 3 years. We plan on downsizing, and I plan on keeping the F-350 (Diesel is amazing) then get a small travel trailer toy hauler or Truck camper. Hoping I can find something higher quality this time than Forest River. Maybe a Lance or Arctic Fox. Really don't like the Lippert frames at this point.

Dude! I knew I liked you the very SECOND you both sat down at the old-geezer campsite. And you're story......I will never forget it.

That post just confirms everything I thought I saw then. I LOVE yaws out-of-the-box strategies. I got the biggest grin on my face right now.
Yaw are young to have figured out LIFE, not just weekends on a bike, is an opportunity for adventure. So cool.

As for getting "something higher quality", I bet you already know that as much as folks like to think one brand is superior to the next, in this industry there are the clones and then there are the very very few that are higher quality. Or put another the way, regardless of fit and finish and amenities, there are 2 kinds of rolling houses......those that are "assembled", and those that are "built". FEW are built. You have to have plumbers, electricians, carpenters...etc to build a house. And it will cost as much as a house. ::013::

90% of all RV's are assembled. FAST. Probably by some really nice folks that have families to feed. But they aren't working in an environment that allows them to do a good job. It's just the way the industry is.

Still, I prefer to look at it with the glass half full. I might have to fix stuff here and there to stay 100% functional in my little houses on wheels, but I'm still stoked every day that I can have this lifestyle for such an amazingly low burn rate. It's a freedom that I fully embrace. To me, it's all about the front porch! The sunsets and sunrises. Even my "home base", coastal Texas, where my septic system and water well is for when I'm NOT nomad-ing across the terrain, is a glorious place to have a cup of coffee. And there is not quite anything that compares to hearing and then seeing a couple of grandkids on bikes suddenly appear through the trees as they head over to see if Pawpaw is home. (I keep a few treats in the house to insure their minor jaunt pays off)

Here is my base station. I'm HOME when I'm here.

Yea, I'm just one these days, so no need to sleep 10. lol

Ripped out that silly dinette booth and built my global network admin office. :)

I dine on the porch. If I'm feeding the family, we all meet at the 3 picnic tables on the other side of the pond from here.

You want to post up a link to the Falcon? Starcraft also has a couple of small toy haulers, one nearly identical to Snake's Wolf Pup, and one with a front deck and fold out tent style queen bed on the back.

Thats a rig! I last had an older Lance camper, and while I really liked it, my wife wasn't thrilled about the size of the wet bath. These days, the floor plans I'm most impressed by are made by Host and Adventurer/Eagle Cap.

bob dirt, do you still visit Glamis? I pretty much grew up there, and still try to get down there as often as possible.

That's awesome! I'm looking for some property that I can build on at some point. Tiff unfortunately is not yet ready to full time year round with our youngest. She needs the stick and brick house.

We did:
Wisconsin Dells
Wall, SD - Badlands & Rushmore
Big Horn NF
Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Cody (Bury me here)
Arches, Bryce Canyon, Moab, Zion and North Rim GC
Colorado Springs (Work Stop)
Mesquite, TX (Truck Preventative Maint.)
New Orleans, NO (This place is one of my Favorites....)
Walton County, FL (Property searching)

Went entirely too fast, and did everything except FL with no reservations. I can't wait to get back out to Wyoming again. That's where my heart is, even if we're moving to FL for now. My sheltered east-coast brain was definitely expanded by the midwest.

This is our second FR product, and we knew what we were getting into with it. Some one else said it, but the right RV is the one you've got, and this one gets the job done. I'm also looking to make my dinette a more useful area of the trailer. Will likely be replacing it with a couch with recliners. The garage turns into a nice bunk house for the kids with the happijack bed and couches.

AV Geek. I have not been to Glamis for about 6 years. That's when I sold my last rail. My sons and I built 4 of them. In the old days, my wife and 2 boys rode 250r quads and I had a Banshee. Then momma and I got hooked on hot rod sand cars. I have a RZR 1000 but I use it at my house in Mexico and on trips with crazy riding buddies. We usually hit the dirt near Valley of Fire once a year. This January were going to try Sand Hollow instead. Going to Florence before thanksgiving.i missed out on a couple of good rides this summer because of my effed up foot. I hope not to get busted high jacking this thread....

You CAN NOT be found guilty of hijacking in a thread that actually belongs to Big Bob!!!

A BigBob thread IS a hijack thread. (And my favorite kind)

Even Patrick shows up for these!
