Ok those of you with stock ecm's, do you ride in touring or sport mode? For the 1st 1500 miles I rode in touring mode, but now I'm finding myself riding in sport mode all the time. S mode doesn't seem to hurt fuel mileage, even though I know it has to affect it some because of me twisting the throttle a little more. I like the peppiness of the S mode. maybe someday I will send off the ecm and have it flashed. So let me hear what you prefer... This isn't a debate thread this is about ones preference the only right is what's right for you.
S-mode definitely. Unless snow/mud/off-road etc. Way to soft in touring mode for me.

I tried the S mode for the first time few days ago, I think I'll stick with it during clear weather and soloing, with madam and or under rain, I'll stay in T

I have had my ST10 for a few months now. I ride in S-mode almost all the time. I have found I prefer T-mode when 2-up and off-road when I am standing. I am sure I could adapt to S-mode in those circumstances, but T-mode makes it easier to be smooth.

I'll use both during a ride switching at times multiple times during the day.
In traffic and stop go lights i'll switch to T, while on the go at speeds be in S. It varies for me.

Anymore, even with a stock ECU flash, I only use Touring when it's really wet/slick, or when I'm in a technical area like loosely packed dirt or wet grass.

I've gotten used to where the clutch, and gas need to be to take of in "S". I'm guessing that "T" slows the fuel delivery. So when I try to take off from a start in "T", with the same clucthin' & gassin' that I do in "S". . . .

That why "I" believe that people don't need to flash their ECUs, just ride more, so they get used to their bikes.

I've accidentally taken off in 3rd several times and 2nd atleast once a ride while in T mode. Tough thing to do in S mode without stalling.
You don't realize it untill your in the process of taking off in traffic and then crap, wrong gear. I hate stalling in traffic.

Everyone is different, but my S10 seems to be “installable” in T mode and I agree with you about flashing the ECUs, I don’t doubt there are benefits to be had, but mine seems fine as it is.

You're right, the difference between T and S is the throttle map – how much fuel you get for a given amount of twist (and slightly more engine braking in S). In T mode wide open throttle only gives 100% throttle at 7250rpm and above. S mode gives 100% throttle at 4000rpm and above (at 4000rpm in T, wide open throttle only gives 71%).
