30K is VERY "behind the times". It doesn't cover crap. I increased mine, but that is not the norm. You would be amazed at how many people don't carry any insurance at all; and, yes, the law requires insurance coverage.

All true. Insurance has become too much of a racket. When liability was optional, it was cheap. The moment it became legally mandated, it shot up in cost since you had no choice and the Insurance companies knew they could rape customers and get away with it.

Far too many people are focused on what their car payment needs to be, w/o regard to what the real costs of ownership are.

Hopefully airmed will get fair compensation w/o a battle.

Glad you are OK sir. Don't worry too much at all about the insurance coverage. With a decent attorney you can sue the perpetrator in civil court for future damages the rest of his/her life or until the settlement amount is met. Just make sure to have the attorney refile before the statute for your state. In CA it's every three years. As an added bonus their license is suspended indefinitely until they pay up in full!
