Just purchased a 2021 tenere and I love this bike . Just come off of a 2009 GSA 1200 and this bike has a much better ride. But , I have a question , how do you get to the tool pouch without first having a Allen wrench?

Allen wrench is stored under the seat, not in the tool pouch...

Thanks, I looked under the seat but did not see Allen wrench. I will be making my own tool bag as I start working on bike. But , I did notice a plug that was underneath the seat . Is that for diagnostic?

Allen wrench is supposed to go into some holes in the plastic of the seat. The plug is diagnostic and can be used to cycle the ABS pump when replacing brake fluid. Basically you need to short out the proper two wires (do a search) and run through the process in the Service manual. If you don't have one, recommend you buy one.

Many owners use the original tool bag location for other things (auxilary fuse blocks, air horn pumps, etc.) As you note, it's not real convenient and has limited space to expand the tool set. A tool kit under a proper tail rack (not OEM), or the inside of the right pannier mount are popular locations.

The Allen key to remove the fairing panels is attached to the bottom of the seat, as in remove the seat and turn it upside down, key hooks into plastic tabs.
I'm glad you confirmed that. I was just about to go verify it. I'm proud to say that since I haven't been a dumb ass and left my key on, so I haven't had to pull the side panel in a couple of years. :D

first thing I dd with my'19 is pull out the tool kit and install the fuse block in its place .... not much of a tool kit anyway. and being a Yamaha have never really needed a tool kit.

I've been thinking of pulling the tools, and puting my flat repair kit in instead.

Ive posted this info before in a different thread about the rear rack... space underneath.

Since all the electrical components are located under the right side panel....I decided to move the tool pouch & put a set of battery jumper cables in its place.

I had a rear rack mount custom made to hold a moulded tool box under the Givi plate. 2 pins thru the plate keep the tool box in place. The tool pouch & other handy bits like an air comp...tire plug tools...air guage...an emerg jump battery...Givi rack release tool & a Cruz multi-tool...flashlight...elect tape... fuel siphon...zip ties...etc all fit inside the Caseling moulded box

Somewhere...I have pics of the current tool box setup on my blue 2014....tapatalk_-1106235941_408x229 (1).jpgtapatalk_681243631_408x229 (1).jpgtapatalk_509490615_408x229 (1).jpg

My solution for tool kit/air pump carrier. Mounts to the inside of my happy trail pannier rack. Inexpensive HF box. Always on the bike. D37ACFA7-2B4A-4BCE-978C-A3702056C6DD.jpeg
