That's pretty much same thing I didsigeye said:I wish I had paid the entry fee to get closer when I was there in 2004. I took a picture from what was the park entrance back then.

How long is the hike? I may be out there next month. I haven't decided yet whether it will be the last hurrah for the Connie or the first trip for the Tenere'.EricV said:The Sturgis area is a great place to ride. Black Hills, Custer, the eye of the needle, Devils Tower, etc. It's worth the entrance fee to Devils Tower to do a nice morning hike around the monument. I did it at a relaxed pace in riding gear and it took me about 45 minutes. Cool to see the climbers and just enjoy the trail and viewpoints along it. Not very busy in the mornings either, and the vast bulk of the tourons don't do the hike, or just go to the fist viewpoint instead of hiking the entire ring.
Aside from that, it's just a pretty place with a small gift shop/interpretive center.
The Tower Trail is a paved 1.3 miles. Easy walk, even in riding boots and gear. There are some other trails there as well. https://www.nps.gov/deto/planyourvisit/hiking.htmCrew Chief said:How long is the hike? I may be out there next month.
