I wish I had paid the entry fee to get closer when I was there in 2004. I took a picture from what was the park entrance back then.

The Sturgis area is a great place to ride. Black Hills, Custer, the eye of the needle, Devils Tower, etc. It's worth the entrance fee to Devils Tower to do a nice morning hike around the monument. I did it at a relaxed pace in riding gear and it took me about 45 minutes. Cool to see the climbers and just enjoy the trail and viewpoints along it. Not very busy in the mornings either, and the vast bulk of the tourons don't do the hike, or just go to the fist viewpoint instead of hiking the entire ring.

Aside from that, it's just a pretty place with a small gift shop/interpretive center.

I rode my Super T to Sturgis in 2015. It is a great place to ride and visit. It was even better when I was there when Sturgis wasn't going on. I did have fun at Sturgis though and one great thing I remember is how easy it was to find my bike in that sea of chrome and custom paint! Ha ha.

How long is the hike? I may be out there next month. I haven't decided yet whether it will be the last hurrah for the Connie or the first trip for the Tenere'.

The Tower Trail is a paved 1.3 miles. Easy walk, even in riding boots and gear. There are some other trails there as well. https://www.nps.gov/deto/planyourvisit/hiking.htm

We rode to sturgis on my Goldwing in 2012. We stayed in deadwood just for 1 night. What a rat race. Mount Rushmore was pretty cool.

We rode Sturgis and the area about 5 years ago. Great area when outside of the bike weeks.

this was my second trip sturgis during bike weeks, this year I took the dirt road at rough lock falls in spearfish canyon on out and wound up in WY,

if you're going back next year let me know, i'dd like to take this road on out to spearfish, but don't want to do it alone.
