Right on! It was a Blue one!

Good luck!

hope it was a blue that was cancelled, if so I moved up one place I guess. >:D

I have no need to cancel, I still have my Speed Triple to ride until the Tenere comes in, so I can wait as long as it takes.

Whoa! Sweet looking GS! I've got my heart set on the Yammy, though. I hope that you don't prove to be right about the extended wait. I can wait 2 or 3 months, but then I will start to get really anxious.

Problems and waiting times? Heck, they weren't even supposed to start hitting the ground until May/June. They haven't even technically slid anything back yet. I guess one can guess it might with the current state of Japan's infrastructure, but canceling before there has even been an official schedule slide? Seems premature to me. My guess is you were on the fence between the BMW and the Super Tenere in the first place and finding a great deal on the BMW may have lulled you to take action. Nothing wrong with that and gets you on the seat of something sooner. Congrats.

I'm waiting. Honestly, it doesn't matter if it comes in when I have expected it all along, which was July or August (my current order says July) or it comes in next year. This is the bike for me and arrival time has nothing to do with my decision on what bike is right for me. Plus, I've not gotten myself into a "no bike bind" as some have others have done to themselves. Self induced pain is the worst kind! ha. If all current orders were canceled and they announced that it wouldn't come in until 2012, I would put in my order all over again and wait. Plenty of other bikes to ride and riding to be done as I wait. No getting flighty for me.

Odd that.... BMW is why I ordered an S10..... :D Nice bikes. I didn't have the best of luck with 'em. Bought myself a lightly used Tiger 955i to tide me over until the S10 arrives. Doing that relieved all my angst and actually gives me more time to sort out which farkles are going on. Wasn't looking forward to slapping a bunch of stuff on and then heading out on a 2wk/4000 mile trip. The good news is the buffeting from the Tiger wind screen will make the Tenere' seem mild in comparison.... ???

I do not want to deal with all this problems and waiting times.

I just bought a 2011 BMW GS R 1200 with ASC, ESa, Heated Grips, Tire monitor pressure and luggage.

Picking up on WEd 20th. I will be riding from Chattanooga to Chicago.

Good luck everybody, I wish you the best!!!

I've got even money on when the final drive goes on that new Beemah...

Everyone I know that has a GS/GSA has had issues between 25K thru 55K miles with their FDrive.

All of my riding friends have purchased the extended warranty too...for just that reason.

I can only hope that yours will be better and not have the funky failures that seem to plague that scoot.

BTW - I would of owned one by now but that FDrive issue looms too large for me to screw with.

Enjoy..

This is a mean-spirited thing to say to someone who just bought something.

And just to counter your anecdotal data, I've owned two R-bikes and took both beyond 50K without final drive problems. I've got three friends now with high-mileage GSs and we tour for thousands of miles. Never an issue. I've been on four Edelweiss trips in Europe where tens of rental BMWs are abused within an inch of their life - never saw a single final drive problem whatsoever.

And the thing that people fail to get about "final drive problems" is that most of the failures are slow seal leaks that are not a huge deal. You might have to top off the final oil to finish your triip, but then after you get home, you take it into the dealer and get a seal replaced for $200 or so (or free if the bike is less than three years old). Not good, but not the smoking heap on the side of the road that ill-informed people on the net would have you believe.

It's been a problem and BMW deserves some scorn, but it is not remotely close to an "even money it will fail" problem.

Damian, that is a nice looking bike. Wish you the best.

I have only had one BMW, 07 K1200GT and the FD went around 9k miles. Wasn't actually the FD, the splined shaft became loose on the wheel hub. Replacing the hub lasted 200 miles, dealer then discovered the rule is to replace entire unit (FD) to fix. Think it was $1800 plus, but under warranty, and bike was down/in shop for a week. I learned a lot about BMW the company and the dealer in that exercise.

Anyways, I am in this till it comes. I have a nice ride, so no rush. If they cancelled the orders and we had to do over, I would try and get the WHITE one, but blue will work.

Mine had a slow leak at the pinion seal early in it's life and I road the bike for 60k miles, but I know people that have been stuck many miles from home having either have to tow the bike home or renting a moving van to go the rest of the way.

The bigger issue is the these issues have been reported for so many years that it is now known as a common issue.

Damian, great looking bike. Enjoy.

Damn! This plays right into my hand. I had a PM to the HoebSTer quite a while back about how I delayed my order because I had other logs on the fire and couldn't order one quite yet. I was all in and then all out. The big log burned out and now I am all in again. WOW! I'm stunned, but really looking forward to eventually riding off the lot on my new Super ten. I'll wait. There is nothing else out here that I'm remotely interested in.

The only other bike out there that I like is the DL 1000, and I sold mine two months ago!

I'm definitely waiting for the S10. I'll just acquire a few more farkles for it to keep my interest level up. :)

Thankfully the DR 650 will serve me well in the meantime.

Yamaha will get everything sorted out and maybe even improve upon their projections. I'm grateful that they're being up front with their customers regarding the challenges they're facing.

major let down for me , I am trying to deal with it. I think I need to go bike shopping meanwhile. Just sold my DL, wow what a mistake!
