Anyone tried running a 100/90/19 front?
Narrower, taller but almost the exact same diameter.
One size, minimal change.
Manufacturer recommends exact same 2.5 rim diameter for both.
I tried searching, but you can’t (I can’t) search for numbers :/

Most of what I can find refers to going wider and how turn in is slower
Lots of talk about foreward grip on wider rubber, but that’s the back, how about front?
Then I read how narrower tires might bite through dirt better.
One guy said it was “less floaty” in sand.
Might taller be a smoother ride?

Hi, I have seen the list and I just got Mitas E-08 for my bike, you might consider adding them in to your great list! this is the information on the Mitas E-08 tire "
  • Balanced performance on road and light off road terrain
  • Designed for 80% on-road and 20% off-road use
  • Tread pattern for both the front and rear wheels of adventure motorcycles with balanced performance on road and light off road terrain.
Front 59/H, RR 69/H (load/speed index), both tubless.
Regards.

Yes, it's what I'm currently running.
Being narrower it was slightly tricky to get seated on both sides, but I used a thin film of hand-soap and it seated fine.
I combined it with a 140/80-17 rear.
The factory speedometer with these sizes (according to my GPS) is right on the money. Speed matches exactly at all speeds.

Turn-in seems quicker, but that might just be because I have brand new tires on it. The bike seems very flickable.............................and I CAN tell you, these sizes of E07-Dakar work very well in the snow

I haven't read all the trend, so I'm not sure if you mentioned it already: I want to add the Maxxis Presa Detour to the list. I used them and kinda liked them ( although my favourites were by far the mitas 07).

Maxxis only sells bicycle tires in the US. Please take a minute to add your location to your profile, it adds context to your posts and will help others benefit from your shared info, as well as helping others answer any questions you may post.

The Maxxis Presa Detour and many other motorcycle, car, and truck/suv tires are readily available here in the US. I was running Maxxis Desert IT's over 15 years ago.

Great, link to your source for Maxxis tires that fit the Super Ten. When I clicked on find a vendor on the Maxxis site, all I got was a choice for bicycle tires. And the only Presa Detour I found for sale was on ebay, and a used tire with ~3 mil of tread left.

Maxis International is here in CA:

My local dealer right down the street can get any Maxxis tire I need. They are a Maxxis distributor. They ship all over the country:

Go to any local Maxxis dealer and you are going to be able to get a set. As with many ADV tires they might have to be ordered. When ordering tires I have found the telephone is your friend. Google search not so much.

From your supplied link to Maxxis USA, only dirt bike and two 12" scooter tires are offered, along with bicycle tires. My 'local Maxxis dealer' doesn't carry Maxxis, the larger one an hour away does, but only dirt bike tires and either can't, or won't order anything else. Over the phone they basically told me a flat no when I asked about ordering Maxxis street rubber and said they only sell Maxxis dirt tires and tubes.

15 years ago is a long time. Market offerings change. I'm pretty sure that Carlo is not in the US. It would be helpful to know where, both so others from his location know about that tire choice, and as context for his local riding conditions.

As you may know, I just received my T1200, and it comes with its OEM Bridgestone Battle Wing BW 501 and BW 502.
Tires have 2000 miles. Should I upgrade to 100% Street tire like Michelin ROAD 5 or those tires are good enough and I can keep them until they die ?

My very first BW pair I dont know them at all.

ps : soloing 50% / 50% with wife, living in Switzerland so its dry most of the time but could be wet/rainy preyy quickly.

thanks guys

The BWs are fine for street/gravel road duty. Wear them out. Most people just wear out the OEM tires unless their riding demands something different.

West of the CDT covers a lot of riding. I like the TKC80 over the Shinko. Lasts well on the front and I guess I'm a Shinko snob, not much caring for a cheap tire that doesn't really wear all that well, at least in my minimal experience. How long do you need it to last? Kenda Big Blocks were only 2500 on the rear, but better on the front. I don't recall if they made it 4k or not on the front.

Heads up! Revzilla has Michelin Anakee 3 cheap while they last. I just ordered 2 rear 1 front for my Super Tenere.
