New, (used) 2012 Super T owner in the PNW.
I’ve been trolling the forum, and really can’t find many people talking about rain/winter tires.
Does anyone have experience, good, or bad with a tire designed for colder, wetter climates?
Thanks.

I'm not sure about cold weather but Michelin Pilot Road 4 is very good on wet tarmac.. The only drawback is it is a 100% tire

check out Revzilla , not suggesting you buy there ( very good company to buy from ) but have a great selection of tires with a lot of information and reviews on each tire. or interview every rider you can chase down in the PNW to get an overview of what your looking for. lots of good 80/20 choices to pick from. after you decide give us a tire review , information is a good thing.

If you’re after mileage and wet grip, probably the Michelin PR4s or Anakees. Are best bets. I get great mileage from the OEM Battlewings too, but the Michelins feel more secure in the wet.

Michelin PR4s or A3s are a safe bet for good all around wet weather performance. The PNW FJR gang run the heck out of PR4s and are mostly happy with their behavior. Plus they're a snap to mount!

I ran a set of Pirelli Scorpion Trail IIs on the Tenere and had a great experience with them. Got a little over 11k miles to the wear bars, neutral handling, quick warm up and very even wear. Nice tire and would run them again.

PR4s are good rain tires. Don't get the Trail for the rear, get the GT instead. Much better tread life. You might also look at Pirelli Angel GTs. Very popular among the Sport Touring crowd in the PacNorWet and come in our sizes. I have a set waiting for me to wear out my Mitas E07s. FWIW, I spent 45 years in Portland, so know rain riding well. BT-anything usually is a consistent rain tire too.

I'm trying out Shinko 705's. Price is good, and my research looks like its a good tire.!=]]\

I'm trying out the Shinko 705's. Read a lot of reviews and they appear to be a good tire. Price is good -- $150 for front and rear.
I'll let you know how they work out

They were OK in the rain but wore really fast.

Metzler tourance next. Commuting around Seattle and have worked well. Seem to be wearing well but can’t comment on longevity yet as only 2500 miles on them.

I have the 705’s on my bike now. They are “ok” in the rain at best. And I’ve got about 1000 miles on them and the rear is looking pretty ragged. Maybe I have another 500 Miles in it, if I’m lucky.
They look bad ass on the bike but just aren’t worth it for a bike that doesn’t hit the dirt often. If I were doing the pan American Highway I’d rock them again, but for daily use they are not worth it. Just my $.02.

Please do post when you're taken them off and let others know your mileage and thoughts on the overall experience with them.

My only experience was with a front 705 and it was done at 6500 miles and I disliked it immensely on the Super Ten compared to every other tire I've run. K60s wear better and more evenly and last 3.5 times as long. I see no reason to consider the Shinko 705 a bargain. And I'm a touring guy that goes in the gravel/dirt now and then, not a corner carving, peg scraper.

Update.
I went with the Anakee III. Love them. For occasional gravel road and mild off road use with 90% highway they are perfect. My only real complaint is that at speed, the tires handle like a true super sport tire. I feel that the tire will safely out-lean the Super T chassis and handle much higher corner speeds than should be allowed for a 700 pound package, which in the hands of a less cautious person could become problematic. Otherwise I love them.

Seems to me ours got about 5,000 miles. The compound was never really good in rain. The Mitas E07s have been much better and they are far from being a street tire.

And I remember the 705 on DCStroms ripped up at the edge of the tread block.

I guess it's a toss up?
Some like them some don't..
I ran Heidenau K60's on the rear once and thought it was a poor tire..
A ton of folks love them..
I pulled it at 6k i just wasn't feeling the love.
Wear life was ok but you could feel that wear on the road and in the rain.
I found it to be sloppy feeling in the rain and with the solid center strip it didn't win big on the trail for me.
Yes i had the psi correct dropped some air before trail riding..
I get around 6k max on a rear Shinko 705 the tire i am running now and is ready for a change is the Full Bore..
And i like it over the 705, I'm at over 7k and can see maybe getting to 8k.
At first they felt a little weird but they all do in IMO, figure you have been riding around on a flat spot the last thousand or so miles on the old tire it's gonna feel odd.
But I can't find them anymore, apparently they are moving from what i was told and no one has any in stock.
The 705 front i can't compare it to the 19" front as i run 90x90x21 i get around 12 to 14k on the front before it needs change mainly due to cupping.
I have tried many brands on a few bikes over the years, on my Triumph Tiger 1050 i had a go with lots of road tires, and in the end they all died around 6 to 7k, the Avon was a winner for longer life at close to 8k.
In the end i stuck with the Shinko 009 raven for the price point and very good traction with the same wear.
