I watched this bad-boy (Discovery) launch into orbit in-person back in September '88 while camped on the river in Titusville.

I got to see it up-close and personal a couple years ago in the Smithsonian..........Amazing piece of engineering!

Here I am with Enterprise a few years back on the Intrepid.

And I didn't get a picture, but have also seen Atlantis at Kennedy Space Center. My grandfather (mom's dad) worked at Rockwell International. He was there for Apollo all the way through the Shuttle, so I remember him having a model in launch configuration on his shelf for years.

I'm sure it's still there.
I didn't see it from this overlook at Windy Ridge, but it would probably be to the north end of the lake.

Apparently it is still there. . . . but. . . . it moves. Just watched a show on the Science Channel that was investigating it. The raft is still huge. I don't know they wouldn't/couldn't harvest the logs.
