My arthritis in my left ankle has made it very painful to shift my S10 (very little range of motion anymore) My darling wife hated to see me not riding and didn't say no to another motorbike, after a month of searching I found a 2009 eff jay arr ae with only 6800 miles on it. The bike is like brand new . 1 owner , Sargent seats, bag liners, a really nice Touratech pillion bag, and a Zumo 550. WHAT A SCORE Sure is nice to be back in the saddle again, really digging the paddle shifters on the FJR so much easier on my ankle.

That really sucks about your ankle but at least you’re back in the saddle. Those FJRs are sweet... never ridden an auto version. You can use this pic in the soon to come for sale ad...436300BC-CC88-44C6-B8FA-6A7DCDF8F8E3.jpeg

I also had the 2008 FJR with the electronic gear change. Great bike, but I sold it as it became too cramped for me when two up. The one thing to get used to is that until the engine has warmed up from cold and tick over has returned to 1100 rpm, the throttle will only engage at 2000+ reves. I once forgot this in Slovenia. I had been parked up at the top of the pass for a couple of hours, on my descent into the first hairpin I opened the throttle as if the bike was warmed up and nothing happened. "Clunk" and a busted mirror.

That's about right - I'm a member of that FJR club too Grumpy. I felt a right idiot, but luckily the damage was mainly to my ego ... along with a road rash on the mirror & fairing side. I was on full right lock & just wanted a whiff of power to see me round c.120 degrees, but the engine room said not yet buddy; 2-up I just couldn't catch the weight transfer in time.

It's simple enough just to remember to let the bike warm up if she is cold, while you get helmet & gloves on.

I ran a 2009AE before having to sell it to get the 2017 S10 ES.
the FJR is just a wonderful bike. You will enjoy it much!
