Does anyone here know of an easy way to make the Tenere throttle easier to turn ? Mine seems to have a little to much spring tension .

Mine is quite loose, even with slack taken out of the cables. May be worthwhile checking the throttle tube is clean and cables not binding. Other than that I cannot help you, sorry.

On the bracket that the throttle cables go into the return spring on my 2012 was under the lower screw of the bracket. I took the plastic cover off then loosened the screws holding the bracket to the throttle bodies and took the lower screw out. This let the return spring unwind and stop on the upper screw. After that I put the bottom screw back in and tightened them both back up. Helped a lot for me. I was thinking about bending a 90 degree bend in the spring and letting it hook on top of the bracket but I have not tested to see if it would return the throttle to the closed position. A little project for another day. I do like a light throttle pull on my bikes.

Thanks for the replies, will be waiting for a chance to lift the gas tank while it’s fairly empty and see what I can do, I’ve driven it like this for early 40,000 miles but was at a dealer yesterday and tried the very easy to turn throttles on some new bikes and decided to try doing something about mine.

Do you have any slack in the throttle? If the adjustment is tightened to much to take out slack it can put a bind on things.

I’ve kind of decided not to try reducing the spring pull until after we get back from Tuktoyaktuk, I don’t want to take the chance of possibly messing something up for our trip, since I’ve already ridden it like this for 40,000 I will just put up with it for another 8,000 +.

Don it’s seems to have plenty of slack but I will take a closer look.

Out of interest how much slack should there be? Mine has about 1cm’s worth before throttle engages.

Mine was 'rough' and doesn't easily spring back. Turned out it was just plain old rust on the bars. Sandpaper off the rust and apply generous amount of Lithium Soap grease. Smooth as butter now. This should be a yearly maintenance item to check for myself.

If I remember correctly, it was an easy procedure to remove the throttle grip. Remove bar ends. Then remove the Throttle cable housing assembly that is next to the throttle (2 bolts). When it is about to be loosen, just becareful as it may drop off. Take note on how the cable is routed internally on that housing so that you remember how to put it back together. Then slide off the grip.

I recently added a small 'helper' spring. I hooked it around the barb the factory spring is pushing against, then wrapped up and over the (factory) spring and connected the other end of (my new) spring to a small bracket in the rear of the TB's. Didn't change any part of the stock spring. I really like the throttle feel of the KTM, and was looking for something similar. I did this as an experiment, for fun, and I was shocked on the difference it made. Ive ridden the Tenere several times now and I love it. And if I ever find that I don't want it, im back to 100% stock in five minutes by just removing my little spring I added. I think I bought this spring at ACE for about $.35 or so.
