Throttle sticking at 3k

Started my '12 the other day and idle was normal. Mounted and rolled on the throttle and it stuck at around 3k. Checked that the throttle lock wasn't engaged and turned around. After a few hundred feet, braking and ready to hit the kill switch and the rpm's dropped to normal.
First time for this in my otherwise trouble free 27k miles.
Anyone had this problem?

Same thing happened to me, and indeed it was the battery. I had cruise control at 3k rpm at every cold start until replaced the battery.

Rickster says his S10 is a '12 (Gen 1). No cruise control on that.

When you start an S10 with a low/weak/bad battery it can act like it has a cruise control. I have a 13 model and when this happened it would idle ok, but when I let the clutch out, it went to 3K rpm and stayed there just like it had cruise control. It was hard to start and I started it with wide open throttle (WOT) and that may have caused the situation. I turned it off and when I started it again all was well.

I had my what I thought was a weak battery changed to a new one. Should have waited for the 3k rpm syndrome before changing. I could have spend the money saved on some other useless things :)
