Throttle cables

I have a 2013 S10.
Does anyone else have a really slow throttle return. It does return to its closed position but there's definitely no snap like most bikes I've ridden.
I have had a serious rust issue under the throttle tube a couple of times in the past. That's now been eliminated by a set of Renthal's.
I have lubed the cables several times but still slow to return.

Any ideas ?

I'm sure you've done the obvious, but just in case...
Take your bar end off, pull the guard out of the way, loosen the throttle tube clamp and slide it off the bar and see if it returns better now. If not, the problem is most likely down by the servo.

what's the mileage of your bike?
my 2012 needed a new set of cables, as the bottom cable started contacting the tb, and frayed.
It needs a bit of play but not too much.

My mileage is around 30 k miles.
My throttle also feels heavy as in it takes more effort to pull the throttle back than I would like.

This is an old thread but can anyone tell me if they have ever had a problem with the shaft not turning smoothly? I have a slow returning throttle but even with the cable unhooked at the servo it still doesn't "snap" back like every other throttle cable I have ever had.

I have seen this several times... When I go 'fix' or look at the customers bike, the cause is normally wrong cable routing. I have found this to be the issue several times. Just a FYI if you want to check that first.

Thanks, One of the cables is frayed and has some drag so I am going to order the set. When I unhooked the cables and the throttle body shaft the snap was back. The resistance is in the throttle body butterfly shaft and my guess is that is a result of the servo. If I had a new one to compare it to then I would know if its in the throttle/servo assembly.

There will be resistance at the throttle body. You're working against the whole fly by wire part, electric motor and return springs.

All the throttle cable is working against is the spring and sensor. It does not move the servo motor directly. The ECU drives the servo.
