So I've got this awesome sinister black beast of a tarmac burner '12 Supa10 that I bought new VIN #277.

I've got all the cool kid tidbits installed on it including Parabellum screen, Aussie screen adjuster, wings, Jesse Bags, CBT rear rack, Hyperlights, Rigid light bar, etc etc etc

Why O' why do I have such a yearning for a MT-09..?

I mean the feels are real for me to run away from this beloved machine I've cuddled with for past 7 years.

Trading or selling I'm gonna take a huge hit with or without eqpt included.

TALK ME DOWN.!!

I think its just human nature. Grass is always greener. Be thankful bikes are cheaper than cars or women!
For me the urge is worse during winter when I am not out riding. Once I get back on the S10 the general goodness just seeps in and I wonder why my eyes were roaming. If she had cruise she would be perfect (2012 model).

Good luck!

Sounds like you're looking for a fresh romance. Can you swing a new girl and keep the old one tucked away in the garage for when you're in the mood for some infidelity? Juggling two (or more) ladies never ends well but it's fun as hell to try.

Seriously, if you never go off-pavement, grab the MT.....I would. If the occasional dirt romp is in the cards, part out the farkles, sell the current ride, and grab a brand new S10 to cure that new bike jones.

Go for it!
The 900 triple engine is intoxicatingly fun and the 100+ lb weight loss is very noticeable. But they are different bikes, so it depends on whether you want comfort, long distance touring ability, dirt road capabilities (S10) or corner carving, hot rodding, butt kicking performance (Tracer). I have both, and I love them equally.

So what are you going to use if for? Toss a couple hundred bucks at it and tidy up the tail, toss a windscreen on and have some fun. It's relatively cheap, ~150 lbs lighter than the Super Ten and fun to ride... for short periods. You're not going cross country on it. You're not taking it off pavement to any real degree. You're not putting luggage on it. (you could, but don't try to make it something it's not.) If you see yourself adding things to bring it up to what you had with the Super Ten, just stop now. It's never going to be as comfortable for longer distance rides or traveling with luggage. It's a seriously fun bike for day rides and running around. About the most utility you're going to get is maybe a top box so you can convince yourself you can run errands with it. ;)

A quick poke at cycle trader shows you can find a new '18 for ~$7400 or a new '19 for ~$9k. I don't know the mileage on your S10, but Gen I bikes don't typically go for big cash now. Still a great bike and would likely put a nice dent in the down payment on a MT-09 if you go there.

You are aware it is OK to has more than one scoot in your garage right? I has 8. It is a terrible sickness.

Find a used one and get it on the cheap. They are an incredibly fun bike based on 3 demo rides.

Some do better than others at multiple bike syndrome. I have the S10 and a 150cc scooter. They are so very far apart that it almost doesn't count. I hop on the scooter. I put on the S10. The big bike is just not that comfortable for me to use as a commuter or short jaunt bike. I'd love to find some 400-500 cc standard for a cheap bang around town bike. Still have to find space in the garage!

I'll have to side with the "have both" crowd. They're totally different rides. Plusses/minuses for both. With my size, and the way the Tenere carries her weight, she is my zip in & around town. She still amazes me at how "flickable" she is; bar lock turns couldn't be any easier.

If you can afford both....you know what to do....
If not...Do you go on long trips? If yes, then keep S10. Do go off road? If yes, keep S10. Do you carry stuff including a passenger? If yes, keep s10. Is the MT-09 a more fun ride? Yes,...but you can make an S10 exciting to ride with an ECU flash, exhaust upgrade and shed aftermarket such as panniers crash bars, etc. You can do sooo much more with the S10 including keeping yourself from yourself. Resale on S10 is much greater.

Keep the ST and buy a used MT-09. I bought a 2006 SV-650 to compliment my FJR (since sold as bought 2014 ES). Great to have if one bike is layed up for some reason and different tools for different jobs!

yeah...ya know most of you stated "keep the S10" -- I am in agreement with you.

It's sorted out, I know every inch of it and it does EXACTLY what I intended to do with it.

So - yes - you are right.

I'll search for a close-by used scoot for 1000's less than new and be a happy cat just the same.

See....I didn't fall (*with your help*) did I...

Glad you kept the big girl.
When I've test ridden the Yam triples I've loved the motor but on each it took a while to realize that the ergonomics were just wrong for me.

Been looking at a Tracer 900 GT myself. Probably never sell my '12 S10 but that triple.....
