Help me understand what is going on here? 1000's of posts and endless internet threads of riders complaining how crappy the E07+ tire is and begging to bring back the standard E07. Now that it's available nobody wants it? Really really weird.

Well maybe not. I imagine it's just another fad tire that has seen it's time come and go just like guys running trials tires in place of knobby's. Or the Heidenau K60 tires that were the craze 10 years ago.

I posted up a few days ago loud and clear it is now available. And for a fantastic price!! Both in the standard and Dakar version:

I think it may be the price because in bringing them back the price increased substantially.
Plus there are more tire options than when the E07 came out.

In my case, I have a ride coming up the end of July that I would like to have a fresh set of tires for. I can buy a new set of theE07 + for less than the rear EO7. Just too good of a deal to pass up.

Total for the two tires-front and rear $197.99.

“No rubber, Like a fresh new rubber”.

Within a couple dollars of the EO7 Dakar rear.

Okay that’s what i paid in euro’s at my tire-supplier in my hometown. So no big difference there. He also mounted and balanced them to the rims i brought him for that money.

Wow I get deja vu reading this. You must have the text in a word file and just copy and paste each time.

Nobody said the E-07+ wasn't a good tire, just not as good as the original for value. Actually Steve has even mentioned he likes it better. E-07 Dakar before cost less than the + and lasted ~20% longer. Now it is $190 and the + is $119. No brainer for sure.

Too bad Mitas doesn't make trials tires. I think the Tenere would do good at Glamis with one mounted.

Nope just a good memory. Sure a few people like the E07+. But not many. All I read over and over is how disappointed riders were that the standard E07 was discontinued. Between here and ADVRider there are 100's of posts stating that fact. I will not purchase a tire based on price alone. It has to perform to my standards.

And yes Mitas does make a trials tire. It is called the E01:

When the only miles you put on the bike is the ride down to Starbucks to order a Spinch-feta sandwich, sporting your $$$$ knobby tires and your Mosko moto bags. You gotta have the “look”. How else can you look down your snoot at the guy riding the muddy/dusty ADV bike past and say to the guy on the BMW next to you “Oh my Gawd, look at that loser, he’s riding on Shinko’s” “Hey Xavier, you got any Grey Poupon for my croissant?”

Every other Tenere rider that I’ve had the opportunity to ride with that has or is riding the EO7+ has liked them. They wished that they lasted a bit longer. That’s the biggest complaint.

Does it really matter where I ride and how many miles? Who is looking down at anyone? I would never ever buy something just for the look. It's all about having fun and being safe. I have never once judged someone else for their choice of tires or product. I just happen to have
experiences that demand I get the best possible product for my personal application.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't ever remember bragging or being boastful. Even joking, those statements you are making to belittle me are a sad and untrue characterization of myself.

Chris, I don't believe that comment was directed specifically at you. How would Mark know anything about your potential Starbucks habits. Seemed more like a generic "you"

Chris, not directed at you. I have a hard time believing everything I read on ADV rider. There are so many opinions on tires, and who knows how these reviewers uses match someone else’s? It’s all good to review a tire in a sand wash and all but who only rides a Tenere in a sand wash? We’ve beat this horse so many times. It’s all relative as to how a rider uses a tire and how their experience and use match my own. Anyone can proclaim to be an expert online.

Is a Shinko better or worse than a tire costing three times as much? It depends on intended use. I’ve personally ran Shinko tires and had no problems. If you have never personally used something and have first hand knowledge, kinda cheapens a review. To boldly claim that everybody hates the EO7 + is not accurate. Talk to guy’s riding a Tenere who have used this tire. See how and if their use is similar to your use and make a informed decision. How many miles and use is of the highest personal weight of one’s opinion. Riding a tire for an hour in a sand wash doesn’t give a very complete picture of a tire.

I'm just about ready to ride my knobby clad Tenere out for a coffee run. [Really] Monday morning coffee with a Tenere rider in New London, 45 miles east.

Nothing wrong with getting coffee, or going to star bucks.

In the Jeep world you have a phrase called a “mall crawler” = big 41” mud terrains, huge lift, etc. which is cool, but these jeeps never leave pavement.

What’s the phrase for the same thing in adv bikes?

I got emails and tracking numbers saying that they shipped. Front from twisted throttle and rear from Shadetree.

This thread got me thinking about tires ... and since the Tractionator GPS was back in stock at Fortnine I've got a new one of those on the way ;)
