I'm no genius, but I find it amazing that Suzuki can continue to make a 2005-6, 999cc K5 engine, Euro 5 compliant. No idea what kind of modifications it needed but still an almost 30 year old design. Just an observation.
Honda and Suzuki have come out with new models with parallel twins and different cc's. Yamaha has been making the single model 1199cc parallel twin for the better part of 20+ years. Seems strange they can't tweak it to meet Euro5 and be right there with the (increasing?) popularity of parallel twins? Considering parallel twins might be the new normal? I understand Triumph have been making P-twins forever as well.
Like someone posted, perhaps an engine hp tweak here, semi active suspension there, spinkle a little pixy dust and update the dash, nothing crazy because the foundation of this motorcycle is more than solid.
I like simple, and this motorcycle has simple but effective nanny systems. I don't need to know how many times I've up or down shifted on my last ride. Useless information. Maybe tire pressure monitoring? I'd like that.
Sorry for the long rant. I'm more than happy with my Tenere. 1st motorcycle I've ever bought new and there were a lot of choices. Glad to see it still for 2023 but I'm guessing they are 2022 leftovers to get around the Eruo5? No one wants to see the model bike they bought, get discontinued. For me, it's kind of a personal when I hear that the possibility of the T12 getting axed every year. When they keep it around I think, 'it hasn't changed in 9 years (2nd Gen) so theoretically, I have a current (Yamaha Tenere), just with more miles, if someone bought a new Tenere tomorrow. I know I went off on a tangent there. Difficult to put it in words. Hope my points come across somewhat coherently?
As a side note, there were no beers involved in the above post. Thanks for reading.
