Dude, you are confused.. those are only 1 Lbs weights... I don't want to hurt myself.... I....I...I..I.... Work-Out !!! :D

The rear swing arm bearings are pretty dry. And I go though all the suspension linkage to check on lube and water or moisture in the bearings... I found standing water at the back of the swing arm too... Wonder how that happened.. :D I like to just check the bike over and check the TQ on the nuts and bolts... I like to ride hard and know that the bike is up to par....... ::008::

Did you check the final drive oil? Can water get through that breather tube on the pumpkin?

I didn't but I will probably change it again after its back together... Its probably fine because the water or moisture will boil off after the long hot miles... I run Mobil 1 in there so im not worried about it....

Congratulations to all who attended. Alas I had a previously planned trip to CO with some Buddies starting the 21st so was unable to make this one. A quick question for those who ran K60's. What tire pressures did you find worked for you on the Passes, rocks etc? Trying to gauge how much to air down. Thanks.

Most people I road with aired down... I didn't want to damage any rims so I kept my "normal" pressure and kicked butt.... I ran 38-40 the whole time...................

I aired down to 22lbs on my k60's traction felt better and was much smoother ride. I road the bike through the passes and no bent rims.

Hey Tall Gears, how does that feel? That's your bud AND your vendor! LOL

Dang, so im siting here going through all these pictures, uploading, downloading, posting. I'm also out giving the Tenere some TLC after a week and a half of abuse, and cant stop thinking of how much fun I had. I'm really missing colorado already and I just got back. One of the best days was just sitting in the river taking a day off after the rally drinking beers with the guys!

On my return from Colorado I ran into this FJR and immediately knew he was a member of the Iron Butt Association and he was on a mission. He jumped out of the bike and ran inside the store to buy something. I briefly spoke with him as he got on the bike and took off. He told me the annual running of the 11 day, 11,000 mile plus marathon had just started and off he went. Crazy people the Iron Butt guys are :D

3 GPS's ???

Enough lights? ;D

The IBR is just further proof that our species is by far the most entertaining to contemplate. We just make it up as we go.

I truly believe he delights in watching to see what we come up with next.

I know I do. :)

I ran 22 psi in the front and 28 in the rear. It made the wife much much happier. We started out with normal pressure, but dropped it down after getting our teeth rattled a bit in the bumps. Wife forgot her extra support bra so the softer ride was much appreciated. I noticed much better control picking lines thru the rough stuff. I highly recommend lowering pressure and I doubt you will bend a rim at the slow speeds you will be going in the marbles. I was riding 2 up with both bags loaded.

Good to know. Thank you much. I will be one up but fully loaded as we will be staying in a different camp site every night. As I look at all your pictures and read the Reports I go to my gear and try and remove some more items to lighten the load ::025::

Made it home from the gathering just short of three weeks on the road 8600 km fresh oil and filter and ready to go again. Well done to all the organizers of the event, an impressive amount of swag was given away and lots of stories were told. The KOA worked out very well Its a well run site and they seemed happy to have us. The roads in the area where awesome and offered challenges for every type of rider. Enjoyed meeting some new folks and making contact with many of the Whitehorse crew. Looking forward to whatever Jaxon and Karson come up with next year. Ill do my best to be there.

In case anyone is interested in the IBR, here is the info on the 2013 rally: http://www.ironbuttrally.com/IBR/2013.cfm
I suppose they are a bit crazy, kinda like the folks that like to go out and ride single track over hill and dale ;D
A few observations:
The auxillary fuel tank is pretty much required equipment in order to be competitive. Many of the Iron Butt riders have them on their bikes whether they compete in the rally or not. But they are limited to a certain amount of total fuel, IIRC, 11 gallons total.
All the farkles are on the bikes for a reason and many use SPOT tracking, several GPSs, computers, integrated cell phones, etc.
Interesting tire on the FJR. Looks like maybe a car tire, which is popular with the FJR crowd, especially the endourance riders. Since the FJR eats a rear tire in about 6k miles, at least one tire change is required, unless a car tire is used, which possibly would last the entire rally. During the 2005 rally, held here in Denver, I was the 'pit crew' for one of the FJR riders (there were several) per Dale Wilson's request and while the rider slept and took care of business for a couple of hours, I had the honor of changing out the rear wheel/tire and oil on his bike. It was unnerving to say the least, because I could have been responsible for a DNF. Yikes! talk about a state of high anxiety...
Some riders (a few) ride w/o all the farkles, but they have little chance of making the podium.
All the lights of God on the front are necessary because these riders are in the saddle around the clock and after dark are in harms way. A fellow, Dav'o came up from Australia I think in 2007 or 2009 and on the last leg he hit a deer (forest rat). Made it to the hosptal, but died during the night... :-[
Bike in the photos has no stickers, just lots of farkles for competition ::)
The Iron Butt Rally is not an annual event. Is held every odd year.
One fellow ran the IBR at least twice on a Ninja 250cc. Ouch! Of course he didn't 'win'. There was also a Honda Helix one year.
One other thing, I had a real nice time at the Tenere rally in Ouray. I was sitting in the corner with my little camper and GL1800 watching the riders (some limping a bit with bits hanging off the bikes) return from a day's rock bashing :p I appreciate the friendship afforded me by many of you, even though I no longer have an S10. Sorry I won the first raffle drawing (not!). I will put that Wolfman bag to use, unlike a muffler or other S10 bit...
p.s. "This just in from Bob Higdon's most excellant blow by blow of the rally:
Dale Wilson’s Yamaha FJR forum will be a noisy place today. Their beloved
bikes crushed the field in the first leg of the 2013 Iron Butt Rally, nailing down
1st, 3rd, 4th, and 9th places. And but for a screwed up call-in bonus, the marque

would own four of the top five places this morning."
Just sayin'
