::022:: I had an awesome time everyone!! I'm sorry I really didn't say "see ya next time" and chat as I was leaving yesterday but my right wrist was hurting (insert whatever joke you want) and I just wanted to get home. To everyone that helped bang and hammer my pannier back into a somewhat useable container, thanks! Once I made it home, I ended up finding that my wrist was a fracture of the distal end of my radius bone. Probably no surgery but I'll have a cast for several weeks as soon as the swelling stops.

I wondered. It looked a tad swollen. Glad it wasn't anything worse. My wrist is sore too, but its only from 19 hrs of hammering.

The BIG COLORADO 2013 summer gathering !

Dropped off my Beast at Booby J's Yamaha in Albuquerque. Flying home to Texas.

They will give her some fresh yamalube blood and a once over check for loose parts. :)

She'll be waiting on my return in a week to go play some more.

By the way, met some great folks working at Bobby J's. A few wanted to know about the dirty beast's story. Told em all about the Rally and the great folks that ride them. I left with 2 of the staff wanting Teneres now!!

Also, this is the oldest and first Yamaha dealer in the U.S.A.
Lots of history and the family all race(d) motocross.
Opened the year many of us were born. 1958

Ouch Hernia, at least it's a minor fracture...

I fought some of the worst wind I have ever experienced between Cameron and Flagstaff. I was tucked down as low as I could be on the bike and was still riding leaned over into the wind. I called it a night in Flagstaff, and headed out this morning via Sedona and Jerome for home. Peak temps on the bike as I entered the Surface of the Sun Valley was 115*

I'm loading up pics, and will work on the videos to get them on YouTube and linked here...

Far and away this was one of the best vacations I have ever had. Is it too soon to head back and do it again?

It was great putting names to faces, and riding with you guys. Hope the swelling goes down quick Dave. When I get back to FL, I'll post up photos and the like. Probably be in a week, in Mesa Verde today, and Moab and VOG for the next couple.

Hi all,

Jenny and I had a great time in Ouray - we met some old friends (you know who you are) and made some knew ones. We didn't get a chance to speak to everyone unfortunately - maybe next time around.

Anyway thanks to Jaxon and Karson and all the sponsors for a great event.

I feel a bit guilty but over the moon at the same time for winning the Klim suit at the raffle. There were a lot of great prizes and even a t-shirt would have been great.

I have many photo's and video and will be sure to post some when I get home. We're in Billings tonight and plan to be home on July 1st. - Canada Day!

Best wished to all!

Jaxon and Karson,

First, Karen and I want to thank you for all the work you did to pull the 2013 Ten-Ouray rally together. Your diligence rewarded us all with some great times and beautiful rides. Equipment has been proven. Human endurance has been tested. Man has been good to his fellow man. Kudos on you. Oh, and your choice of venue was excellent.

We think there are a couple of suggestions that would serve to enhance the experience of future rally participants.
1. Identify a rallying point. It could be a room, a campsite, or a push-up shelter with a table under it. The point is, give people a place to meet and check in with others.
2. Put a yellow pad out at the rallying point for participants to sign in on. Name, screen name, cell #, campsite #, and type of riding preferred. The purpose of this would be to allow folks to connect with one another.
3. A whiteboard (4’X4’) and markers to sign up for offered rides. This means there would also have to be a list of rides. Part of this could be used for general announcements, or for riders trying to connect or find a campsite to share.

Thanks for listening. --Gene & Karen

Re: The BIG COLORADO 2013 summer gathering !

Paul (Limey) and I just parted ways in Wyoming after finishing the COBDR.

Had a great time with everyone! Looking forward to next year.

Paul and I had an eventful ride on the BDR. I'll share more details and pics in a few days when I get home, but let's just say that I crashed and broke the headlight/dashboard/windscreen assembly. After strapping that on the bike, we got stuck on an impassable road during a thunderstorm. Then, the next day, I swamped the bike at a water crossing south of stagecoach and had to pull the airbox and plugs. Good times!

Anyway, gonna hit Beartooth and Look passes on the way back to Seattle.

Safe travels everyone.

Cheers,
Michael

I had a great time and I only wish I would of had more time to meet each of you. I learned a few things on this trip:

- Ouray is pronounced about a dozen different ways.

- 2 up on Cinnaminn Pass is doable.

- letting air out of my tires makes the wife happy on the rough stuff.

- license plates need locktite too.

- Maggie's makes a killer burgar in Ouray.

- Clothing is optional at Orvis Hot Springs.

- Fat Tire beer consumption causes the spare tire look.

- 3 days is about how long it takes for fresh tar to cure.

- 2 up standing up is the way to go in the rough stuff.

- I need wider passenger pegs if I want to continue riding 2 up standing up.

- Don't follow people wearing neon vests that say "this trail is a piece of cake".

- TC off in Touring mode is better than TC #2 in Sport mode for off road.

- Tourist book maps of the trails work just fine.

- Cowboys and Cowgirls still exist. I witnessed a horse drive on Last Dollar road

::020::

I posted some pics in the gallery and will be putting a video together once I sort out the helmet cam. be patient

good to be back to work........not
