I get the racing different machines and it was a good race. What I would like to know is why is he wearing football equipment? For those across the pond I am sure you know I am talking about what we call football in America.

And why are three of the riders leaning the wrong way for a paved track. I'm not sure who is going to bitch slap Mr Yellow first, the track owner or the safety stewards. He can't be wearing a steel shoe on a paved track, so putting a foot down and pushing the bike lower instead of hanging off and pushing the bike upright doesn't make sense to me.

Rather looks like the sport bikes are sandbagging to me. Perhaps this was a 'performance' instead of a 'race'?

It must work otherwise they wouldn't do it. It seems to me that it may be to do with weight transfer...

Actually, not true at all. Look at all the dipsticks that take a foot off the peg on supersport racing, imitating Rossi, who admitted long ago that he just started doing it to keep other riders from coming up on him. It's rather bad form and a good way to injure a leg. You don't 'dab' at track speeds, except on dirt. You can see the instability the yellow rider creates for himself multiple times. No doubt he's a good rider on a bike he knows well, but the physics don't work for pushing the bike down, that's a low speed cornering technique, though I see it used in specific Japanese oddity races.

Makes me wonder how fast he'd be if he was probed and beaten until he learned to do it right? Never mind the ridiculous shoulder pads instead of armored gear. He's playing a character like an '80's US professional wrestler, imho.

Auto Race

Quite fascinating. Triangular tyres - I thought there would be a reason.

The left foot has a smooth metal plate, presumably for when the rear steps out, etc

Guy at the helm:

And not playing:

That was cool -
An experienced flat tracker on a track small enough the big bikes weight and engines were a liability.
I think that the design of the circuit does not allow the great powers to express their power. Something similar happens in the next video.

It is as if you are on a very sinuous mountain route, in your S10 and you see through the mirrors that behind you is Dirt_Dad with his 1290 ... as it is very sinuous, neither you move away, nor he can pass you ... so when you see the straight coming, you put the turn signal on and turn in the corner:):)

Story of my riding life...only it's usually a Harley. And when the road gets straight they nail the throttle and go as fast as they can in a straight line. Only to repeat the process at the next set of curves. It can be maddening.

I followed a pack of Pirates through some beautiful twisties in PA....on my WR250R. They were wicking it up on the straights between corners and then running 10 under the limit through the turns. Grrrr. Same story and maddening as hell!

Very common story in these parts. I've learned to just park when I see pirates ahead. No sense in getting into that situation if you can help it.

My under powered T-12 can usually out accelerate everything else. . . . that 1290 should be even quicker. Get out in front. . . . late brake them. . . . go through the curve. . . . repeat as necessary. . . . problem solved.

Pirates? I've heard of squids, but not pirates. Sounds like fun. Please explain.

That's the problem. You usually run up behind these guys into a set of curves. First time you get a safe passing spot they go hard on the throttle. I'm not really interested in doing triple digits to pass them. So you let them run ahead. I'll usually cut my straight line speed to 20 or even park on the side of the road for a few minutes if safe. Knowing ill see them again all too soon.

Ohhhh. I just refer to them as assholes. Absolutely zero power rangers. Plenty of pirates, or at least "wanna-be" pirates. They're the ones that generally don't wave because either: 1) I'm not riding an H-D, 2) they're just too cool, or 3) they're scared shitless, and don't want to release their grips to wave.

I don't have a lot of tight twisties around here, so there's that. But, what we do have are people, generally in cars, that see how many cars they can keep behind them by going 5-10mph below the posted limit. And, when they come to a passing zone, they increase speed until after it narrows back down. Then they go back to traveling 5-10mph below the posted limit.

It's the same with 'Stangs and Lotus Elans, short and long wheelbase, etc. Different applications suit different circumstances.

Sadly, on a bike, I am not that committed in the corners, but would never be a pirate as I am far too friendly...I often let likkle 125s through, bless 'em...

That makes you polite...thank you.

Honestly this is a topic that can get me into a full blown rant. I'm going to try to hold back. It has absolutely nothing to do with the color of bike I'm riding. Back in my V-Strom days my signature line was:

Would you rather follow a Harley up a twisty mountain road, or be smashed in the head with a hammer?
A) How big is the hammer?
B) Can I pick the spot on my head where you hit me?
C) Just hit me and get it over with.

Stepping away from the keyboard now...I'm not going to rant, I'm not going to rant, I'm not going to rant.
