That's not too "high stakes". . . . no .45 or .223. Shotgun shells are still relatively easy to find. At least around here.
What do you think the ball ammo might be? Could be .45 acp, or maybe too long? Looks rimless though.

My neighbor recently took a basic MSF course at a local H-D dealership. They use 500cc H-Ds. (didn't know there was such a thing). But, he complained that the bike had something wrong with it because the throttle was too sensitive, it seemed to be either on, or off. He hasn't ridden a bike since the late '70s, and the bike he just bought is an '04 VTX 1300; carbs.

I explained to him that the H-D was fuel injected (FI), and that the "twitchiness" is a common complaint about FI bikes. He, as do many here, didn't like it. He was glad that he had bought and "old style" bike.

But, it got me to thinking. Many here have claimed that the Tenere twitchiness, is exclusive to the Tenere. That other FI bikes don't have the same throttle response. Apparently not true accurate. Maybe varying degrees of twitchiness, but not the only one.

The throttle on my Goldwing makes the Tenere throttle look pretty sick, at idle it could probably pull 5 Tenere’s but a Tenere can barely pull itself at idle.

Apples to oranges. But, if I need to go ultra slow, I just idle around in first gear.

I never thought any of our Teneres had a twitchy throttle. Always chalked it up to the need for precise throttle control. After getting my current bike I've completely changed my mind. All 4 of our Teneres had twitchy throttles.

Live and learn.

I'm sticking with your initial assessment. Just because your new bike feel right. . . . doesn't make your Tenere(s) wrong. :)

CArbs are mushy and slow to react. EFI is more precise and quicker to respond. But, throttle by wire takes it up another notch. Jumping from carb to throttle by wire is like leaping off the Empire State building and aiming for a kiddie pool.

I did what Captain Kirk would have done. I got a re-map. Back to the Universe.

Over the last 10 years and 5000+ posts you will not find me ever complaining that the Tenere throttle was wrong. Always rode in Sport unless it was raining. Never had a problem with it. But modern bikes have improved throttle control. I suspect if Yamaha ever updates the Tenere their 7 (or even 8) year old throttle programming will be noticeably updated.

Get a avc8130 flash. Soften the initial hit and get some hidden torque. Before I got mine flashed. It was a bitch going through 1st gear ruts and rocky stuff. I let a long time Harley rider ride mine preflash. He commented on the jerky throttle.

Even that picture shows the Teneres to be in the minority. In the last four years I've only seen a total of four in the wild. To be fair. . . . for what ever reason(s). . . . there's just not a lot of bikers around here. H-D is the most often seen, with an assorted sport bike thrown in. I even saw a GS the other day. . . . not on his way to Starbucks. But, one would think, with our riding season. . . . bikes would be everywhere.
