With the knowledge that I have, I can't see anything in the picture that would be a result of "tight valves" (Picture is of the wrong side of the head)
The only thing that could possibly happen with tight-valves, is the valves would be held open longer or possibly never close completely. This would result in some burnt valves.(among other running issues)
I'm assuming the Camshaft journals are what the picture was trying to show (scoring).
This would be a result of low or no oiling, or possibly camshaft chain way too tight?
Without knowing any of the history of this bike, it's hard to say.
Possibly a manual cam-chain tensioner installed and adjusted way too tight? Or possibly stunting/wheelies ridden for distance at high rpms, causing oil to not be where it should be?
Hard to say?

Agree.............. the wheelie situation is a interesting thought. I don't have any other info, just probably one-in-a-million type thing, and found it interesting. Its probably not even an "yamaha type issue", it might be a customers 'fault' of some sort.....

who knows, just interesting ??

Don't want to throw out bad Ju-Ju... But wanted to see if anyone has seen or heard about any issues with the "700" engine... This was my local Yamaha dealer that had a bad MT07 engine, and they posted these pictures (top end). I asked if they knew what the issue was, they replied back and said "Tight Valves". Im very mechanical inclined, I cant possibly figure out in my head how tight valves could wipe out a head and probably the cam shafts............. Is there someone out in the world that could tell me how this could damage this motor like this ?
I post this because I believe that 95% of this motor is the same as the new T7. Is this something we need to be aware of more so that the ST12 ? The last picture shows some serious damage to the head. Im guessing, replacing the head & cams, maybe some buckets and all other supporting 'changing out the head' parts.

Anyone out in the world know any other info about this issue or similar?
Tight valves didn't do that.
More like oil starvation due to low oil level or wheelies.

I don't know if that bike has a spin on oil filter or a cartridge type filter but my buddy put an oil filter in backwards on a Honda one time and did exactly that same thing to the head on that bike.

Then he must have snuck it in. I signed in/up on it this morning. There's a link on this site. You will have to register again, just like the first time here. I just looked again. . . . 10am this morning. The link post has dropped off of the current postings. Just scroll down.
The T700 forum is indeed live. I still need to install Tapatalk but otherwise it's fully functional.

If everybody who is interested I'd ask that new T700 content ideally be posted over there so it starts growing. Also if you know anybody interested please let them know about it. Word of mouth is the best advertising strategy I have since we run both sites on a non-existent budget. I call them a hobby and service to the MC community.

Thank you for that, by the way. Your hobby has occupied tab #1 position on my browser for about 10 years now. Appreciate all the efforts you and the mods have made for so very long.

Hmmm. Sorry to hear that. I have read other comments about the DCT AT
Some say its brilliant silky smooth like a baby's bum.
After a long day on my Tenere today, my left hand is killing me...clutch clutch clutch.
I had a cager pull out of his driveway today and I just nailed the brakes and got her stopped . I yelled a few things his way and the A☆hole just yelled back so I gave him additional verbal abuse. Ah, if only I was a little younger and more skilled, he would be looking for a new mirror.

Long time member lurking back in from when I owned one of the 1st S10s to hit stateside back in 2011. I have a T7 on order but I missed the PDP order program due to me not paying attention to the process and being out of town on my Africa Twin for 6 days during the ordering date.

Anywho dropping a line as to what I am up to. I have one Black T7 on order with my local dealer scheduled to arrive sometime in August 2020. Currently I am riding a 2017 Honda Africa Twin DCT and I plan on keeping it once the T7 arrives.

My old S10 lives on with a new owner and currently has close to 50k miles on it and still runs good and no issues with it ever.

Ugh, I bought a KTM 790 Adventure R a month ago and have regretted it since the day afterward. It’s been in the shop for two weeks of it. I’m not sure I’ll ever get to ride it again!

Good to be back, everybody. Its been too long.
Crap- I forgot how to 'edit' a post. (NOT like riding a bike!)
Just wanted to give a shout out to the el-supremo> Venture for creating this dedicated 700 forum. That.....is seeing the big picture and planning ahead. Cudos
