Yo Mark,

I tested my skid plate somewhere in Arkansas. Not with the same results you had.

It sure got my attention.

The top bolt was ground down so far I had to use Vice Grips to remove it.

I think alot of skid plates were tested on those trails.

I know mine was...along with the upper crash bars on that RUMBUX plate. They did their job really well. If I had the ACD or Jaxon's tank plate, I wouldn't have the scars on my engine case though.

Patrick just turned this into the best thread of the year...lol! Hilarious. I agree, and was impressed at TG 's ability to downplay a pretty bad injury.

ahhhh did I get a "respect" nod from the Chief?

Hey, TG,

Speaking of skid plates. After William and I got to experience just how fantastic our bikes are on unpaved AR "roads" during the rally, we have both decided to upgrade our skid plates to the more robust ACD ones. We really enjoyed those fantastic paved twisties, but I think we were laughing in our helmets more when we took an unpaved short cut on one of our rides. Gotta do more of that!

Fred you won't mind your flat, straight roads as much when they are dirt. It's the best of both worlds with this bike.

Even our rustic rural roads that I like to ride around here have a bit of what once was pavement, or at least oil and chip, Mark. Still fun, but not as much fun as dirt. I'll have to do more exploring this winter to look for some dirt roads.

You are correct about this bike, as William, Chuck and I agreed after the AR rally. It showed us that it is the best of 3 worlds, twisty roads, dirt roads and even is a great touring bike. Our only question is how can they make it so good and sell it so cheap! ;D

Finally made it Home! But not with the S10. Don't worry, after 2 1/2 moths & over 20000km I put the bike into a storage locker in Vegas and flew home. To below freezing temps and snow on the ground :'(. Will go down in March to visit it , but cannot ride home till mid-May.
Had a great time. Was good to put faces to names (even though I won't be able to remember them)

On your way? ???

That's a Texas size detour from northwest Arkansas!
Did you take the ferry over to Bolivar? Or come over from the eastside?

There's quite a few of us Tenere Rebels from down in that vicinity. Next time you're down this way, holler. I'd be privileged to treat you to a Cajun seafood platter at Benno's!

Oh, that goes to any of you fellow inmates.

Check the link, I have a map 8)
I went from New Orleans west to Winnie and then down 124 to the Bolivar Peninsula, crossing the ferry into Galveston :)

Thanks for the invite, next time ::008::

Thanks guys. It was GREAT for ME as each of you arrived!

I got there before ANY Tenere riders. And I setup camp in a place that ended up looking like a "Check In Booth" for the rally. ::)
Turned out cool because I got to meet everybody, as I answered their arrival questions.
Also became a common departure point for group rides.

Example:

I too am looking forward to doing it again!
