Has anyone attended one of Yamaha's test ride events for the Tenere? Do you get to spend any real time with the bike? I wonder how long deliver would take if one decides to order at that point. My dealer has a test event coming in May for a week. It's gonna be a long winter :(

Ollie, If i had to guess, it would be 6 months after May. Reason i say this is officially it is considered a 2012 model. Most 2012 models won't even start showing up in the dealers until Nov/Dec 2011, then shipping over the winter 2011/2012. This is just how it has been in the past. ONly when there is an early model like this Super 10 does the bike come early. I hope this doesn't fray you from your order sight unseen.

Whoa, hope that isn't the case! Ouch! But if you pre order (sight unseen) you receive the bike in May?

The orders are shipping first come first serve. People who placed orders in Sept will get first pic, then everything after that fills in accordingly. But yes, if you pre-order, your delivery starts shipping in May 2011.

Will you have a chance to sit on the bike at any of the IMS shows across the USA? There will be an S10 there. It is everything people are saying it is for comfort. I got to sit on it and drool some myself here in Seattle.

Good luck and look to see what you end up doing.

I might be able to swing the show in Chicago. Local dealer is looking into my questions. He said his sales rep has a meeting in a few weeks and he'll know more by then. Only thing the rep said was that they would stop taking pre order deposits March 31 and that pre ordered bikes will start shipping in may and june. Info that is common knowledge at this point. My better half has been pushing for a trip to Chicago and I haven't been interested....Till now!

Hi,

In the UK Yamaha just gave the bikes to dealers for a few days, I got to take one out for as long as I wanted, I rode for just over an hour and loved it. Not sure what the score would be for you guys. It helped that I know my dealer really well.

This is from Yamaha's website, under news and events.

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/mcy/demo.aspx

I'm starting to look at rooms right now. I asked the wife if she'd like to go to chicago and she answered yes before I could finish the question. So, it looks like I'll get a chance to see the bike and then, maybe.....put down deposit if i like what I see. If HoebSTer is correct about delivery dates I don't want to wait until this time next year to get the bike. Still waiting to see what dealer rep says about delivery dates too, though. If I can do the test ride in May and still get the bike in a reasonable amount of time I might go that route.

;D Not sure she was hoping for the trip Feb. 12. Not the best time of the year to visit there (I lived downtown Chicago for a few years), but if you can swing it, go for it! There are several manufactures that are attending only a handful of shows (Triumph, BMW, Victory, Ducati). Chicago will be attended by Triumph and Ducati. There is a lot to do and see. You'll have fun at more than the motorcycle show. You just might be limited by the weather a bit.

Yeah, it will be very cold and that's the first thing she thought of as well. It'll be fun no matter what. Looking for hotels in the Lincoln Pk area right now. I wonder if Triumph will have the new Tiger at the show?

I'm guessing Triumph will have the Tiger 800 at the Chicago show. Triumph is only participating in the Long Beach, New York, Cleveland and Chicago shows this year. They have said that the Long Beach, CA show will be the first U.S. show that a Tiger 800 will be on display so I would assume they will be at all 4 shows that Triumph will attend.

The dealers sure know how to stir up the curiosity factor!! I was planning on attending the show in Dallas to see the Super Ténéré but plans didn't work out. So I wait, patiently........(sort of) :)

People that are unable to attend one of the IMS events should not give up on at least seeing and sitting on a Super Ten. There are a few S10's making their way around the US and are at some of the dealers for a few days each - at least that is the case at some of the dealers here in Colorado. There will be one for "show and tell" at Coyote Motorsports in Denver this weekend.

Guess who will be there???

:D

I just made plans to attend the show in Michigan next month. Can't wait to see this bike in person. If it is what I expect I will put my deposit down.

How did Larson cycle get that demo bike? Is there a list as to where that bike will go next ? They can store it at my place [ no charge]
