Are these numbers a sign of that mysterious thing having something to do with 'mid-life'? LOL, or is it just having more disposable income @ that point in life...

Motorcop,
I never thought of myself as either of these, only at times a little Confused instead of Confucius!!! Other than that, i don't know!!! Oh, how are you liking the Tenere? Is it hard to swing a leg back over to the Harley for work? Oh, how do cops do it in the winter, do you put the bike into hibernation and jump back into the ole squad car ::010::????

Maybe at our age we don't take drugs as much any more and can think more clearly. 8)

Seems plenty of young folk can afford a GSXBBRRR1RRR or something and crash them a lot. Maybe us oldies have just figured out that the riding part is good but the crashing part isn't.

We just do stunting differently as well.

All of the above :D I normally associate mid-life with something more sporty, but I s'pose it doesn't have to be.
Even coming off a lifetime of sport and sport touring bikes, I just don't see a serious lack of sport with the Tenere. It's the archer, not the arrow...

Re: Tenere Owner Age - Lets see the stats!!!

Hoebster, this last year the work bike went away in october, because of some minor snow fall. The bosses wouldn't let me take it out once a good level of salt and sand was on the roadway. I took it out yesterday only for half of my shift. So I've been stuck in these squad cars for the last couple of months. But I am taking the Tenere out of the garage today to start taking it to work!

Yeah, I was responding to the guy was speculating that we might be going through a mid-life crises. I feel the sportiness of the Tenere, but as far as mid-life crises is concerned, I normally associate that with people in the 40+ category riding or driving 'sporty looking' vehicles to make some sort of 'I still got game' statement.

I've got mountains in my back yard and can scratch it up pretty well, so no aruments about what this bike is capable of. I still remember talking to a Japanese rider that was doing pretty well in some pretty tight twisties in our local Hakoda range on a Hayabusa. He said it was freaking him out seeing me sitting totally upright on 'that type of bike' looming large in his mirrors and not being able to shake me. :D

I get where you're coming from there. I'm in the 40+ category now and that impulse hasn't hit yet. It helps that I get a company car so I couldn't really care less what I drive - it's free and I'm not going to spend the money on a car just for the sake of impressing ANYONE! That would seriously hit my Farkle Fund. ;)

That's what I'm talking about right there! Sitting up in perfect comfort and hanging with most bikes through some twistie roads. And you could really mess him up if the pavement suddenly ends ::001:: I'll admit I was downright shocked that the Tenere handles better than my VFR ever did. I can take familiar curves faster on the Tenere than I ever did on the VFR - it just suits my riding style so well, and inspires confidence. At first I thought it just "felt" faster on the Tenere because I was sitting upright, or the bike is heavier, but a peek at the speedo on corner exits confirms it (and yes I understand how optimistic the speedo is - as was the VFR's) and I'm not really pushing the Tenere yet - still trying to get to know her...

I'm 21. I'm below average in this category.. but love the big adventure bikes! I'm sure I'm not cool compared to my other comrades who all ride Busa's and R6's but.... all the fun and games disappear when they can't hang in the twisties.. :) I just got the bike back from its first service and can't get over how much fun this bike is.

Welcome on, pocreva. We do have some age restrictions around here, you know ... but as long as you'll be 78 soon, we'll let you in under the wire. ::012:: ::025:: We don't like too many youngsters throwing the curve. Hey, check out the Rally in Whitehorse this summer. You gotta come right through here to get to Alaska. Sign up if you can make it. Let us know where you're from and all that. Again, ::004:: .
