My local dealer, Niehaus Cycle Sales will have a full dress Super Tenere on display Thurs-Sat, January 20 thru 22. They are in Litchfield, IL 62056, one hour NE of St Louis and one hour south of Springfield, IL. Since Yamaha does not have any Super Tenere swag available yet, Brad Niehaus had some made up. The first 50 people to come in to look at the Super Ten on Saturday will get a free Super Tenere hat. I asked Brad about forum members that might come in on Thurs or Fri instead and he said they should ask for him and tell him that they saw it on this forum and he would get you a hat.

I will be helping him with the display and got my hat today! :D

I will also start a thread in the Vendors section about hats and denim shirts for sale.

Hope to see you there.

Fred Z.

Thanks Fred! The few dealers I've talked to here don't know about the traveling Teneres... I'd love to visit Litchfield (my mom was from Raymond) but may not make it in this weather.

Hi Will,

Hope you can make it. I am in Hillsboro and went thru Raymond this evening. Snow on the roads there. Here's hoping for better weather next week.

Our display unit will get here tomorrow afternoon and I will clean it up before we put it on the floor. A couple interesting comments from our regional sales rep today. Evidently this is one of the bikes that were used in the press intro rides in AZ that we are reading about in the USA mags right now. He said there was dirt under the seat ,etc and that is why we decided that will clean it up. He said these are Euro units with the black USA body panels. He said they had the small Euro turn signals and I was surprised about that. Perhaps that is why some of our friends in the rest of the world have complained about te stock turn signals and have retrofitted the Yamaha LED signals? I'll wait and see if there is a problem with the USA lights when ours get here. Also he said that it really sounds great and wonders if the USA exhaust will be quieter. He said when he had one of the first R1 display units, it was a Euro one and was not as quiet as the USA ones are.

Anyway, I am getting excited about our display unit getting here late tomorrow and being here thru Saturday.

Well, it is here! Got here late today. Rode it around the lot and into the shop. It does look better in person in my opinion. We'll do a bit of detailing tomorrow, as it still has some of that AZ red dust from the Press Intro in some nooks and crannies. it has about 800 miles on it and it is a Euro unit with USA panels.

The rep asked us to put a charger on it for a while as he thought the battery might be a bit low from all the starting it had undergone while on the sales floor at the previous dealer. I was pleased to find out that the four fasteners that have to be turned to get the panel off were the 1/4 turn variety and stay with the panel. Very nice.

No problem flat footing with my 30 inch inseam with the seat in lower position and not bad with it in the higher position. Certainly easier to throw a leg over than my 08 KLR.

Well, I am temporarily satisfied. I'll be happy when my own Super Ten gets here. :)

BTW, the Super Tenere jacket was a gift from my dealer. What a guy!

Hi Fred new member here and I'm hoping you can answer a question or anyone for that matter. I read today that the folks who order this first round of bikes will receive the side panniers, brush plate and headlight cover as part of the deal with the bike. Have you guys heard anything like that? I have the article saved at work if anyone wants to read it.

The folks that ordered the First Edition bikes in the rest of the world got all that, but their price reflected those items. The USA models will not come standard with those items, but will be available as options. One of the reasons that we got the best pricing comapred to our friends in the rest of the world that already have theirs.

Thanks Fred for the response, can you tell from the size of the cases that a laptop would fit in them say a 10"X14". I'm thinking the right case would be bigger since it doesn't have to curve around the pipe like the left side does. Also how is the exhaust note; loud, semi loud, quiet enough to be started at 530am on a weekday? ;D I didn't get to spend a lot of time checking the bike out at the DC Intl bike show because I came across it just as we were leaving. I should have gone to the Yamaha display first. :'( Do you think a fullface would fit in the top box?
Thx, Vince

My truck has idiot protection too. Expected to wake up to snow. Man they make a big deal about weather here, with their scary, scary talk and then nothing happens.

Looks like we got about 6 inches here. I just spent 1 1/2 hours with the snow blower going over 3 driveways and a sidewalk. Now clean up and head for Litchfield.

Just as well too, IMHO, since many will elect to go with aftermarket options of many of those items. I really do not like "packaged options" in many cases and prefer to build my own.
