“Join Me For a Ride” Super Tenere Adventure
6 months to ride through all 49 states/4 corners of the Continental US from mid May to October’ish, 2016
It's time for a ride, I’m heading out on a journey this summer to ride all over the country. I’ll invite other Super Tenere owners, and ADV riders of all brands, to ride with me when in their areas. It's the same concept as we do in the PNWSTOG www.pnwtenere.com but on a much bigger scale, nationwide. Best of all, I’ll blog about the trip and the people I meet.
My goals:
1. Not to ride alone, connect with other Super Tenere and adventure riders of all brands via social media and ask them to ride with me from state to state. No freeway on the route, only two lane pavement and forest roads.
2. Go on small group adventure rides around the country with other adventure riders. Have them show me their favorite dual sport routes.
3. Do sections of the BDR's and adventure trails around the country (TWAT in Wisconsin and TART in Arkansas to name a few)
4. Help build the Super Tenere brand as the adventure bike it is.
5. Engage the online community through Facebook groups , my blog, and the Tenere forum for members to ride with.
6. Use www.MotoStays.com to find a spare room or a backyard to camp in.
7. Promote the great companies that make Super Tenere accessories and gear that I use like: Yamaha, Altrider,Twisted Throttle, Touratech, Heidenau tires, Mosko Moto luggage, Giant Loop Luggage, Icon, Klim, Cyclops adventure lights, Best Rest products and Redverz tents.
The trip will be essentially self-funded, but I’d love some support from the adventure community as I make my way around the USA. I'll be looking for a spare room or back yard to camp in for a night or two. I do need a power source for a medical device (C-PAP) but self supportive otherwise.
In my 6 month time frame, the simple math breaks down to a nice leisurely pace of 3-4 days per state. I’d want to plan day loop rides from a Yamaha dealership or other local ADV business in one part of the state but open to most suggestions.
I just hope it doesn’t end up looking like Forest when he stops running…. lol
This has been a dream for about 7 years now, I’m really looking forward to getting out on the road to ride with everyone in the ADV community.
Contact me on Facebook or on my website http://tenereacrosstheusa.com if you’d like to help out or host me when I pass through.

Gratefully,
Glen "Northwest Cajun" Comeaux

PS: The attached map is not the exact route but I'll use that as a pattern of states to hit. NO freeway, only 2 lane back roads and as much dirt forest roads as possible

Re: 49 States in 6 months on a Tenere. Come join me for a ride

Sounds like a good time. I live a bit less than an hour north of DC with a bus to the Metro in walking distance. You can camp my yard or use the guest room if I'm in town.

Thanks! I plan on meeting up with Chris Wood in Annapolis Md. I'm hoping for a meet up and ride with as many Teneres as possible when there. Stay tuned!

That looks like a fun summer project. I look forward to reading your blog.

Keep us up to date concerning your plans and approximate dates. I could catch up with you in the Erie PA area but to be truthful I don't get out that way very often.

A route suggestion, take it as you will ;D
Instead of just clipping the northwest corner of PA, make your way to the middle of the state and then head north into NY, or vice versa depending on which way you're going. Also have couch or tent space and do offer local guide services :D

The map is a very general guide to the pattern of states I plan on traveling to. The exact route won't be planned till 7-10 days out, it mainly depends on where my next night will be and the other Tenere members that have a free back yard to camp in ;-)

Should be a great time. Cousin and I did a 199 day ride in 2014 on Tenere's. Blog still up at www.wwr2014.com.
Looks like you have a pin dropped around Melbourne FL on your map. Will keep an eye on your progress and may be able to help out in that area.
Enjoy the ride.

Z-06, Great blog format! I might have some help from Yamaha on this trip, they asked that I blog at least weekly. Was it hard keeping it up? Did you have a lap top or iPad? I only plan to carry an iPhone 6 and a DSLR with wifi capability. Is it ok if I pick your brain?

I'm off 299 in Northern California and have camping space, possibly more depending on when you pass this way. I'll keep an eye on your site and watch your progress. If I'm not on the road myself be sure to stop by, you're going to want to come through here regardless.

I used a laptop to do the blog. It wasn't too bad keeping up once I got it going. There is not much to pick, but your welcome to try.

What time of year will you be in Iowa?
We have two acres fenced and plant a big garden with green beans, carrots, potatoes cooking in the pot a lot of evenings.
Great place to camp and have a little camp fire.
As long as we are home anyone is welcome to stop in.
Two big dogs will think your Super Tenere is mine until you talk or they smell you. [Then you'll need me there] :D

There are MANY places to go and things to see in California and this is a route you don't want to miss... https://goo.gl/maps/GVAN7r6DEXw Avenue of the Giants is a pleasant ride. Rough twisty roads (turn the TC off if you are riding quickly) with beautiful scenery. Every stop will show you the local culture. Walking through the giant redwoods are worth the stop. Warning: if you are allergic to smell of growing marijuana... do not take this route :D

I'd join along for a tour of the State College area, and it's easy for me to get there. Not to mention if you swing through PA on north to south route you could camp at my parents farm (80+ acres) in Bradford county PA which would be on the way to State College. I think I could give you a nickle tour of Bradford and Sullivan counties. From State College I could follow you out to the west / north west.

Lastly, I'm not sure you know but I see on your current proposed route you will be going by Niagara Falls NY. This may be a great idea (not to discourage you from going through the heart of PA). The US Army Corp of Engineers is planning to divert the US falls this year. I cannot find a date but that would be neat to see....on the other had about 100 thousand other people may have the same idea.... ::025::

It looks like you will be in my part of town when you are going through southern Connecticut. I would be glad to ride with you for that portion of the ride. I also have a full selection of tools if you need a place to do maintenance or repairs while you are in the area. I will check out your website as well.

That route is only a "suggestion" I only use it as a pattern of which states to go to next. I'll be in each state 3-4 days to explore with other Tenere owners. I'd want to ride dirt roads whenever possible. Once I get closer to departure in May, follow me at www.tenereacrosstheusa.com There will be weekly (if not daily) updates of my plans and travels.
The attachment is closer to the 1st 1/2 of the trip.

I don't how bad it will be this summer, but we have already had record high temps in Phoenix this year. So be sure to have a way to hydrate on the go (Camelback or similar) and carry extra drinking water. Your leg from San Diego to Las Vegas covers some very low population areas, and finding somewhere to take a break out of the sun will be a challenge...

A friend had an event in the desert that has made me carry an umbrella when I ride. Just a small $10 umbrella but it will keep the sun off of my head and most of my body.
