It's just a design, done on a computer, by an Italian (Oberdan Bezzi)with a excelent imagination .....and so they are receiving money from the web (bloggers, not designers) more curious .... more money

Well, KTM makes 3 1000+ models, and sells them. But yes, I highly doubt Yamaha or any other Japanese manufacturer would make so many modifications.

The concept looks to be using the 900cc triple? Maybe bumped out to 1000cc and re-tuned for torque? Answer to a question nobody asked?

Haven't seen this in a couple of years.
Total imagination and not something from Yamaha.

If it actually is a triple I will be interested, seems like the ADV bike manufacturers have been stuck building these crazy vibrating twins for way to long. I bet they could build a triple that could do everything better than all the current twins on the market. But I also want shaft drive, cruise control ,self canceling turn signals and regular gas instead of premium.

Riiiight. Research the Indian Inline 4. A much better bike than the Chief ever was, but everyone wanted a V-Twin and the Chief outsold the Inline 4 all day, every day. Now the Inline 4 is highly desirable and the Chief much less so, but certainly collectable.

That's part of the problem. The general motorcycle buyer, who rarely rides, but spends money, will want what everyone else has. (Keeping up with the Jonese). I mean come on, that sorry excuse for an agricultural pump of the BMW boxer is junk, vibrates all day and can't get out of it's own way. There is NO reason to keep making that crap, except that it sells well to idiots that over pay just to have what others have sitting in their garages.

Why do you think the T700 has a chain? Because Yamaha perceives that people in that market want chains so they can change gearing. Otherwise Yamaha could have been the first manufacturer to product a mid size, shaft drive adventure bike since the air cooled BMW 800GS.

With respect to self canceling signals there's an aftermarket solution for that: https://safer-turn.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9Oai7rrf4gIVDdvACh1IiAFjEAAYASAAEgL-KPD_BwE I've installed one on my bike and it works well.

Regarding 4 vs. 3 vs. 2 cylinders, I was always under the impression that a two cylinder engine afforded better traction due to the more widely spaced power pulses. In racing "big bang" four cylinder engines were developed with this in mind.

Theoretically it could be lighter and cheaper to build a twin than a 3 or 4 as well?

Took a 3 cylinder Yamaha for a test ride last year, my opinion it made the bigger 2 cylinder Tenere engine look pretty sad. All the ADV bike manufacturers are stuck in a great big 2 cylinder vibrating rut and seriously need to get out of it.

A close friend has a 2017 FZ-09 and lets me 'play' on it every once in a while. I agree with Cycledude, that triple is a fantastic lump!!! I did fantasize what that mill would feel like IN my current 2017 S10?

And one other thing, I won't go back to a chain if i can help it. My shaft future continues to look rather promising.
