Brought my used 2012 home yesterday. I am digging it.

It came with the really nice and expensive Yamaha tankbag. Problem is that the male buckle on the tether from the frame to the bag is broken. Went to a couple outdoors stores and nothing matched.

Went to the the dealer and they could not help me.

Any ideas? I could rob one from the pouch that I probably won't use but I'd have to cut that strap to do it.

Welcome on, bc from VB. Congrats on your new acquisition. Regarding the buckle, I'd just have your local friendly Yamaha dealer order a new one. I can't imagine why they wouldn't be able to get it, if it's an OEM bag. can't be much, and then you know you're set. When you get the chance, please post under Member Intros so the other member will spot you as a new member. ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::

Matt broke his same buckle out at the Ouray rally this June. It can not be ordered from Yamaha. He could not find a match to it. Last I heard he thought he would have to cut them out and sew in new ones.

Yep, dealer said he couldn't get them.

I am going to call Yamaha and complain but in the end, I will probably have to replace both sides of the buckle.

I've had really good luck with the local horse tack place sewing up custom stuff like this for me and doing similar repairs. Hit the ACE or mounting supply shop and get matching male/female buckles that you like, then take it to the horse tack shop and ask for the sewing/repair person. Odds are they either have one on site or have a contact for you. They can either unstitch and re-sew in the new buckles, or just cut and re-sew as needed for a very reasonable price. I've gotten some fairly complex jobs done for a few bucks.

Welcome aboard, becoyote. I have the same bag and looking at the buckle on my dog's collar, it is nearly identical. Collar buckle is thicker than the Yamaha piece but other than that... real close. Would be worth a shot to look at a pet store or WallyWorld. Enjoy your new ride!

LOL, I very carefully cut the stitching. The pouch fits perfectly in the bottom of the bag as a catch-all.
