I'd look at putting a lip/spoiler on the top of your current screen, lots of universal ones on ebay.

I fitted a deflector to the top of the standard screen, works a treat for me less buffeting and noise. It was a cheap chinese ebay purchase (£14including delivery) but it is good quality. I bought it not expecting it to be any good but figured for the price I'd give it a go as it wasn't a lot to lose if it was shite.

Got madstad and MRA spoiler on mine and it works a treat. The spoiler came off a Vstrom MRA screen. I'm somewhat taller than average and I get zero buffeting with this setup.

The bike had a hugger fitted when I bought it. Note the past tense...

I went for a Givi Airflow and adjustable Touratec from the Gen one bikes, works pretty well although not the best looking.

An alternative is drilling additional holes into your screen to lift it higher on the mount.

Assume you have a Gen 1 BTW - have you fitted winglets yet; they help with reducing turbulence remarkably well.

Hi - Yes its a 2012 Gen 1 - it has the side wing things fitted. Wind hitting the top of my lid is the issue if i duck down a little its fine.

Brackets ordered also give me somewhere to mount the GPS - ill report back when done. If it carries on raining though ill need to fit flotation devices its unreal here in the northwest of England.

I fitted a Pyramid, it's about as much use as fitting an ashtray to the handlebar.
This was after a short, mainly dry road ride with a couple of puddles.

I gave up with huggers ages ago and made a much larger cover in front of the shock and up under the seat tray.

Would a rear mud sling like the GS has offer more protection I wonder?
