Recently Ive been working on some Ohlins products again and wanted to share a few quick things.

1) If you have Ohlins front cartridges, DONT FORGET that you can change the front spring rate WITHOUT removing the fork from the bike. They adopted their same race style internals for our bikes. This makes it very easy to change springs. Not many people will ever take advantage of this but compared to stock or other cartridges (from other manufacturers) its very easy. Requires two basic tools.

2) Received a rear shock back from Ohlins getting a refresh / change of set up. They came across this and replaced the part.

(There is more to this story; The shock was not properly set up for the first owner and not knowing it, he beat the crap out of it. Ohlins has now set it up properly for the new owner and replaced the damaged parts from the previous owner. This collar was being abused because the shock was way over sprung for the first owner. The force was not put through the spring, it was put through other parts. Actually damaged several other parts of the shock as well. All have been replaced and the shock is "new" again.
FYI: Some "Online retailers" sell Ohlins shocks that are 'production set-up'. These online retailers typically will sell these shocks for a little less money rather than from a specialist that wants to set it up for YOU. So many people 'save the money' not knowing any better, thinking it's the same thing. I think this is exactly what happened here. The original owner got his shock, saved a few bucks and the bike road like a freight train on rusty tracks. (but that's OK, he saved a few bucks) And while he was never using the shock to its potential, he damaged parts because it was not set up for him properly. Talk with an expert before you spend your hard earned money !

Have a FANTASTIC Holliday season..... Dont forget to look over your machines once and awhile !
