Just got my Sw Motech Mirror Extenders and want to share my experiance with you. Few days ago I put my Givi Airflow Windshield along with Madstad bracket on the bike. The ride got almost perfect in regard to buffeting and windnoise. The only thing I could complain about was a little bit of wind buffeting on my sholders. If I rode with the Cruise control on and I put my palms just behind the mirrors , I got clean air on my sholders. So I knew it was the mirrors causing that unstable wind.

I was exited to try out the mirror extenders , see if they would fix that small issue . Yes they did . Now I dont notice any wind buffeting on my sholders , the ride is just beautifully calm and nice and the mirrors work much better , actually the best mirrors I have had on a motorcycle till now.

So if your thinking of buying a mirror extenders , pls do, not only for the view. It will make your ride smoother in regard to wind to.

I have them on my S-10 and highly recommend them as well. They are expensive but worth it IMO. You no longer see any part of your elbow, the view is much wider and taller and the mirrors really don't look out of place. I positioned the mirror extenders so that they are lined up with the hand guard mounts, pointing forward and out at about a 45 degree angle and it looks great! The extenders are hardly noticeable when you mount them that way. Also, angling the extenders forward means the mirrors are now further forward on the bike, giving you a much wider field of view. Buffeting is reduced slightly as well.... Go for it!

Here is something to consider, especially if you ride your S10 in the dirt. I had mirror extensions on my previous bike, which was a DL650. They extended the mirrors just enough that they hit the ground before the engine guards during a tip over. The first time I dropped the bike, I tweaked a mirror. I do not have the SW Motech extenders on my S10 so YMMV.

Good point , probably good to turn it inward before going dirtriding.

That is exactly why I recommend you aim the extender forward and out at a 45 degree angle. If you aim them straight out towards the ends of the handlebars, your mirrors may stick out too far and get damaged. Also, the mirror bolt design of the S-10 mirrors always allows them to rotate. There is no way to tighten them to the point where they are totally locked down solid. If you smack a tree branch or the ground, the mirrors should just rotate out of the way and avoid breakage. Key word "should" ;)

I can post a pic if you want but twisted throttle has pretty good photos of the extenders installed on their website.

No reason to spend a lot of money for a simple item. I have these, less than $20 for the pair back when I got them in 2011. And no buffeting. Or issues with hitting the ground, for me, with Rumbux and how I have mine aimed, which may or may not have any impact on the issue.

Yeah, there was a post on here a while back about some ebay extenders. I bought them but have never installed them. The stock mirrors work OK for me where they are and I'm not crazy about the wide set mirrors look but I may throw them on there just to see.

I have the cheap extenders from ebay. The bolts turned rusty at the first drop of rain.
Some decent stainless alternatives would be useful, but one is a left handed thread.

They are a definite improvement though. :)

The left, (clutch), side has the left hand thread. Think about it this way; how will the wind push the mirror? On the right side, it would tighten a right hand bolt, rotating the mirror clock wise. No need for LH thread there. On the left side, the wind would push the mirror counter clockwise, loosening a standard RH thread, thus the LH thread bolt there.
