Super Tenere ECU Flash - recommendation

I had my S10 ecu flashed 3 years ago using FTecu software - it was a great improvement, removing the restrictions on the lower gears and giving a bit more grunt but was never 100% happy with the fuelling in the 2 - 4k rev range in lower gears. it was very snatchy and difficult to ride slowly without slipping the clutch.
I was getting increasing frustrated with this characteristic to the point where I was considering selling the bike.
I picked up on a thread on the BMW GS forum recommending the services Grant at https://www.wizperformance.co.uk

A quick call to Grant who also uses FTecu software but has modified and developed the standard map through his ownership of a S10 and I was convinced to give him a go.

To cut a very long story short, ecu flash has been reflashed and to say I am happy with the results in an understatement - huge improvement and cured the issue plus a lot more! Bike starts easier, much smoother at tickover, roll on/roll off very smooth in the problem rev range and now pulls like a train!. Touring and Sport mode are both very useable.

Anyone in the UK or EU thinking of flashing their S10, give Grant a call, thoroughly recommended. You won't be disappointed.

Either way, ride in/ride out, in hand or by post.
I already had an FTecu licence so Grant sorted out the transfer so that he could work on it thus saving me the £100 licence fee. I live close by so dropped it off one day and collected it the next day. Excellent service and well worth considering.

Thanks for the info.

Is this a ride in process, or turn up with the ECU in hand?

If you're in the UK, look no further than Chris Steedman. He sold me an ECU flash he had spent 5 hours developing on the dyno. Works great and was just 200 quid. If you're willing to spend more he can dyno-develop a flash for your specific bike. Here's his shop.

Mine's a Gen II. The flash eliminated the off-idle stumble, got rid of the annoying engine braking that occurs when rolling off the throttle and resulted in much more power everywhere. The engine is also very smooth smooth now. In specific terms, he removed the restrictions in the first 3 gears, made the throttle input 1:1, disable the 02, added fuel where it was needed and some other stuff. He also removed the restrictions in T-mode, making its 6th gear setting standard.

He is very modest, the flash is excellent. Much better than the ECU Unleashed flash I had on my Gen 1. That's the benefit of a dyno-developed map. Give him a ring and see what he has to say.

I had the full dyno work done by CJS on my Gen1 and it transformed the bike, completely agree it was more than worth the cost.

Twinrider can elaborate some more please. What do you mean by the 6th gear being left standard ?

Chris told me he made T-mode's 6th gear map the standard map for every gear in that mode. You should ring him, he'd give you a far more detailed explanation than I can.

Sorry to jump in without introducing myself first but Chris also flashed my zzr1400 and he is indeed a fine tuner. I’m looking at getting an xt1200 as well and will get him to flash that too

Just had an excellent bench flash for my Euro 4 Yamaha XT1200z from Gary at Mototuning.ie. What an improvement! Smooth on/off throttle transition; more linear, crisper throttle response; no excessive fuel cut decelleration (particularly off cruise and when changing up through the box); no more hunting at a constant speed (o2 sensors switched off); just much, much nicer to ride.

So, the bike is built with all of this piss and vinegar but is limited by Yamaha unless the ECU flash is done. And this is a very publicized issue which makes the moto run, sound and all around better. Any reason Yamaha is governing the beast?

If I was looking for a full exhaust system for my 2017 prior to having it flashed and dynoed, what system would you recommend?

Seem to be two main contenders, Arrow and Leo Vince. But which is best? I don’t want Akras, don’t like em
