So, the bike is built with all of this piss and vinegar but is limited by Yamaha unless the ECU flash is done. And this is a very publicized issue which makes the moto run, sound and all around better. Any reason Yamaha is governing the beast?
Manufacturer’s hands are tied by noise and emission laws no matter where the bikes or cars are sold. Just be grateful that we are even allowed to ride motorcycles at all let alone motorcycles that produce the power and have the power to weight ratios that we enjoy.

That’s right, manufacturers do as best they can within emissions regs and the technology they’re currently using, but large capacity twins with small flywheels in a lightweight vehicle like a motorcycle is a difficult balancing act. Four cylinder bikes are easier to smooth out but until manufacturers spend money on wide band o2 sensors and mass air flow sensors they’ll remain compromised. There are encouraging signs in the new BMW R1250 and KTM 790 ranges.
