This thread should turn into the Tenere / BDR tread.
We can quickly see what folks take part in BDR’s and might be a fun ‘round table discussion’.

I'd be interested in that, particularly if it's later in the summer...like August or September

Per the BDR web site, July or August are the best months for Wyoming or Idaho because of weather. (Im no expert in that part of the country)

It can be a pretty narrow window in Wyoming. Depending on how much snowfall the previous winter, there can be some issues with residual snow or snow melt even into July. And I've seen new snow in mid-late August at as low as 9-10K elevations. That, and it seems like the wind always blows in Wyoming. Good luck and kudos to all who venture forth.

riding from Austin Texas to Wyoming in July or august , brutal.
Sneak across Colorado where it’s cool. But up to Amarillo is the pits ! We do that typically very early in the morning or late at night.

Also considering Idaho ! Anyone do this one ? It's only 1232 Miles long ! Probably a little 5K (total) mile off road trip.

Rode some sections of the Idaho BDR two summers ago.
Went right at the end of July, into the first week of August............I can tell you it was brutally HOT in the lower elevation sections (like 105-degrees)
We spent some times hanging out in the cool rivers at the end of the riding days.
If I did it again, I would shoot for very end of August or early September.

I did it two years ago in early July. Like skunkwork says hot in lower elevations but I had to turn around just a little bit past Blue cabin because there was still too much snow.

I'm ready to go back. It shore is nice up there.

I did part of Wyoming couple months ago. I was pressed for time so I put the tenere in the back of the truck and found a storage facility in Raton New Mexico where i parked and stored the truck. Lady prorated my bill so it was only like 10 or $20 for the few days that was parked there. Think it was 35 a month.

I've taking several rides up to Colorado, NM, Montana and to Alaska and Tuk but after finding that storage facility I think I'm done riding out of Texas in July.

im always interested and the BDR's look like great fun . as a (still working) man finding the time off and money at the same time is the challenge . the cost of everything is crazy , and as I age the really hard stuff is not as appealing . I would do the Idaho or Wyoming , both look great . I would probably trailer the bike (never done that before ) all my trips have been on the bike . going to do a short weekend ride at terlingua in march , will be trailering the bikes there for the first time . figure it would be less tress on us to ride in giant pickup comfort there and back . and that may be the future for me . so pick a place and pick a date and those who can will and those who can't will drool.

im 1 year away from retirement , maybe I will have more time to ride ..... one can hope.

I am thinking about riding the first few sections of WYBDR possibly near the end of August.........will have to see what summer plans bring this year, as I'm bringing the S10 to NY for two weeks at the beginning of June. Might ride the PA-wilds BDR-X route while I'm over there?
