I'm riding back from MSTA's STAR 2016 held at Stratton Vermont to Quebec to Nova Scotia and Cabot Trail. As it turns out I need to be in Grosse Point Woods on late Tuesday for family.
Starting Saturday AM will head west from the Boston area. I lost all my maps... I think in Vermont?? I have my laptop and can make routes. I've never ridden east to west across PA or NY and thought perhaps you who have could give me some tips??
I'm unsure if I should go into Canada at Buffalo and to Detroit that way or across Ohio in that way?
Oh yea I might need a new rear tire at least before I leave the Detroit area to head for home in Western North Carolina. I'm currently running Avon Roadrunners on my Yamaha Super Tenere. It's a 150/70 - 17. So far the Avons have around 4,600 miles on them but the rear is getting low on trend in the middle.

Brick, GPW, eh? My old stomping grounds, friends in the Woods, Shores and Farms and Harper Woods and St. Clair Shores.

Google Maps shows 3 basic expedient routes:

1. Going through Canada via Buffalo/Niagara Falls and crossing in Detroit, Bridge or Tunnel....707 miles, 11+ hours.

2. Same route to Buffalo, but hang on the turnpike and ride along Lake Erie through PA and Ohio and up in to Michigan. 811 miles, 12+ hours.

3. The low route, Boston down through CT, PA, OH and up in to Michigan...84 and 80 most of the way. About the same mileage/time as #2 above.

It's construction / road repair season everywhere, no idea which route might have the least headache.

For a tire, If you're not going through Canada and riding through Ohio, check in with Honda East in Toledo. If they don't have one in stock, they should be able to order one and get it in in a few days and you could stop for installation on the way out of Michigan. Up in the Detroit area, no idea who to recommend, been away too long to know who's working at what shops.

Kurgan thanks for the reply. Basically I have Saturday, Sunday, Monday and part of Tuesday to get there so there is no need to take the interstates. Honda East might work.
