When In the field. (On a trip with a group), Things just need to work with as little drama as possible. I like to save the drama for the inevitable flat, break down, tire replacement due to inconsiderate, cheap, dangerously minded fellow riders.

I guess I am willing to pay a premium for compatibility. Getting 5 or 6 riders to switch or figuring out the pairing with 5 other riders is not my idea of fun and would quickly diminish the experience.

Two of our riders Got Cardo units for a trip to Alaska. Hours of frustration just to get the two Cardo units to pair or stay paired. The rest of us took note, went with Sena and the the two Cardo users followed with sena purchases.

My Sena sometimes doesn't pair. With Blutooth the sequence followed can be crucial.

You've been pretty fed up with Sena for at least the last year and damn straight that it'll be on you, because I've never been successful in pairing with a Cardo device.

You are a mightmare case for the intercom makers. They oughta pay YOU to be their torture test rider.
LOL
FireDog45 and I did pair the two different types during of Southern MABDR ride this spring. Paired once, never needed to do it again for the next 4 days.

It true I've been frustrated with Sena on and off for years. It was time for a break-up.

Torture tester? I just ride in whatever environment I'm presented. Seems like that should be a baseline standard for a product marketed to motorcyclist.

Never had anything other than Cardo. Currently on the Packtalk Black with the 45mm speakers. Seems to pair easily with everything other than my mates Interphone. He’s looking to change now too. MESH is definitely the way to go

What are those JBL speakers like. Are they noticeably louder ?. It's difficult to get volume with the helmet speakers unless they are almost on your ear which does not suit me.

I have only used the Cardo, since we ride in the rain it was the one that made the most sense. We have been through torrential downpours where even out rain gear was soaked and no issues with the Cardos. I did have a problem with mine where the charging port would not work, I think it was when I tried to charge it while it was on my helmet and we were riding. Maybe the wind put pressure on the connection and broke it, in any case they replaced it with no questions (I kept all the boxes and materials) and gave me another 1 year warranty on the new unit. Several times when riding through the mountains in Colorado we would lose contact and then hook right back up again. Real range is not 1 mile in line of sight, maybe half of that. I like to wear ear plugs so just started to use these and really like them, good sound and completely cut out the wind noise.
They plug directly into the Cardo unit.

Those smaller usb connections are not that great that's why Garmin still use the original bigger ones as they are more robust. The thing to do is not wiggle them when pulling them out.

The one mile range claimed by many manufacturers may be true on rare occasion on perfect day but normally your very lucky to get 1/2 mile

One thing to note is that if you have a group of riders all on the Dynamic Mesh, the distance from the first to the last rider in the group can be considerably more than a mile, depending how many are in the group.

That’s definitely interesting but I’ve heard plenty of complaints about the new devices not working very well, but who knows maybe it’s operator issues.

We had a group of 8 running from Nevada to Calgary all on Cardos, some were Smartpacks, others were Packtalk and Packtalk Bolds, so three different models. Everything worked great.

I've taken my first two rides with the Cardo Edge and discovered a few things.

Sound quality is definitely better than the Sena 50S. I've run it up to 80 MPH while talking to DM on the phone, and also while riding her bike, which has less wind protection for me. Sound quality excellent and volume a non-issue.

Natural voice, or "hey Cardo" is amazing, and a challenge to learn. I've put DM into the speed dial. At any time, I can say, "hey cardo, speed dial." The phone dials DM and I never took a hand off the bars. If someone calls, all I need to say is "answer," and the phone picks up.

I never listen to music while riding. It has always made me uneasy and distracted. I think a large part of that has been my lack of confidence in the ability to control the music. Hey Cardo inspired me to reconsider that hard/fast rule. Today, for the fist time ever, I tried to ride with music. Controlled by Hey Cardo music on; music off, volume up, volume down. When I used the correct words it worked perfectly. But 'Hey Cardo, stop music' is useless. As are all other incorrect words.

After a day of listening to music I'm not sure if I'll continue or not. I was pretty good at ignoring it a lot of the time. But I also found when riding an undulating twisty road hearing about having a "knock down, drag out, rock N roll party in the street" it can increase my aggression level. Considering what I'm riding, that's saying something. Similar results when Iron Maiden told me to Run to the Hills. I actually said a quiet "unbelievable" when My Osborne told me about Flying High, and was relieved when Uncle Ted ended the ride telling me to release the Stranglehold I had on the throttle. I'm not sure adding aggression to my riding is a good idea. Music is possible now, but an open question.

The magnetic attachment is awesome!! It seems trivial, but it really impressed me. Leaving the store today I pulled the unit out of my pocket, got it near the helmet and it jumped out of my hand and attached itself to the helmet. OMG, that was fantastic.

Still need to try the intercom features, but so far I have no reason to believe it will be a problem.

The unit is small but not too small. Overall, I'm pleased. I also know I need to study the correct terms to use for Hey, Cardo!

I still have not tried the intercom feature yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

It won't be long before you can hook it up to the KTM

Funny you should mention that. When I left yesterday I could feel the rust from 3 weeks off the bike. Set it in my head early this is a fall ride, non-aggressive, just enjoy being back on the bike. In that short, 160 mile ride I did vastly more wheelies than I have ever done on the SAS on any ride. It all started before the music began to play. I think it's the cooler weather. The bike responds better in the denser air.

The edge has a more advanced voice recognition system called Real Voice or something. It’s suppose to be the bees knees.
