Stay on ball of foot on the foot pegs?

When standing and getting aggressive in the rocks or back when I was racing, it was balls of my feet 100% of the time. I recently learned at the Jimmy Lewis riding school to steer more with my feet on the pegs. So now I'm all over the place on the pegs to find the right balance for different riding conditions. And now as I'm getting older my knees thank me for not riding on the balls of my feet all the time. Slamming through miles of whoops in the desert has destroyed my knees over the years.

For me taking off the tank bag was a huge benefit for controlling my beast in the dirt. I can now plant my feet tight in and get my crotch over the tank for tight standing turns and steep uphills.

I dont have much choice with size 14 flippers. If i stand up on the balls of my feet my heel pushed down on the center stand ... and that is a scary thing to hear scraping around corners.

100% agree with this when the road gets twisty, it’s got to be the most important reason for balls of feet on pegs. When cruising on the straights for any distance I move my feet around from arches to balls depending on what feels comfortable.
Talking of hard cornering this is the first bike iv had which doesn’t have hero blobs on pegs. Does anyone scrape pegs?
This bike is easy to scrap the pegs.

i find it forces me to get on the balls of my feet when riding aggresively- otherwise i'm scraping the sides of my boots. Forcing good technique isn't entirely a bad thing though. If i'm on the balls of my feet i'm not dragging anything. The bike has enough cornering clearance used correctly in my opinion.

I feel far more comfortable on the balls of my feet but I suffer with pins and after an hour or so and have to move to the arch of my foot. I now ride with my arches on the pegs and move to the balls of my feet when pressing on.

I ride with my arch over the pegs just as normal all day riding. When the road turns curvey I move my feet back out of habit. In my sport bike days it kept my toes from touching and gave the ability to dial in the lean with the pegs. For standing I’m all over the pegs depending on speed, trail condition, and whether I’m descending or climbing. It’s really all about being mobile on the bike and giving the proper input for your riding situation.

edit: I see I’m very late to the party on this one, need to start looking at dates
