Sorry I’m so late with this, I want to echo what has been posted about how great the Romney Camp N Ride was and thank Dirt Dad and CheckWrecks for all their efforts in making it happen and a big thank you to our host.

I enjoyed visiting with everyone and riding beautiful West Virginia.

Here’s a picture of the start of Happy Hour on Friday around Snakebitten central with some of the usual suspects.

I made some shirts to donate to the raffle with the usual suspect in mind and I will make one for anyone who wants one before I reclaim the screens. The shirt is an ash 50/50, which is more comfortable than a 100% cotton shirt in the summer, with a left chest imprint on the front.

I don’t want to get into any issues with Yamaha so I am not selling them, I just need $10 to cover shipping and handling for a shirt size small through extra large. The shirts are available in plus sizes up to 6XL and handling for those will be a little more. If you would like one, send me a PM by Saturday, May 16th.

Steve

Hey Steve, hope the rest of your trip was good and that you made it home safe. Was a pleasure meeting you and riding with you. We got to ride some really good road and trails. Had a blast. Look forward to next years Romney event. Hope to see you there again. If you get back through Tennessee be sure to let me know. I'll buy your lunch.

Yep, I'm a wearer of Gunner's creation. Hope I have to answer "what is TBDITW" a million times.

By the way, the answer is "you're looking at it" :)

Just curious who is going to the Ténéré thing in Arkansas in a couple of months. I need a snake tent to hide under if it rains! (And listen to lies told with a straight face!)

Glad you made it home safe, Steve. It was a pleasure. To answer your question - Held Rainstar Gore-Tex.

I got a question about what happened worth the charity and the answer should go to everybody.

Not sure if the question is referring to the shirt sale, raffle, or an outright donation. I just did the final sorry numbers and D_D relayed that it alone surpassed last year. Part of this was an extra amount that Inhouse Bob kicked in. I know Heather is working up numbers on the other two parts. This week or next we should have an announcement and we still guess it will be well over $3,000.

Romney Cycle actually does the transfer and Kevin was VERY emphatic that our find raiser will go ONLY to the kids. Not overhead or something else.

It is amazing to have people walk up and hand over hundred dollar bills!!! This went so well that we plan to let everybody know what we know and stay as visible as possible.

Thank you all!

I have a number, but I don't believe it includes all the parts. I'm holding off on making any final announcement until I know the final total. I know we're all curious, I am too. Just don't want to dribble out multiple numbers.

I do know we trounced the number from last year. ::012:: More to come...

Logistics. Nothing more.

Whatever is called for. :)

I can supply the tent. But all those tall tales come with the posse.

I am just coming off call when the FODS event happens in Pipestem WV and hope to be home to make that one with Little Bike.

It'd be great to also make Arkansas.

I've tried to think of the best way to express the tremendous growth in donations directly from the riders. I'm a visual guy, so this helped me understand just what was accomplished.

Raffle: $2755.00
Shirts: $ 369.81

This was our second year of donating to the school. Our attendance at the event grew by about 60%. Our direct rider donation increased by more than 300%. The extra shirt sales money is a totally new revenue source this year that came from the wonderful collaboration between Checkswrecks and inhousebob (ADV). inhousebob went above and beyond in his participation to make the shirts a huge success. Thank you.

Great job everyone. As Checkswrecks mentioned, there were some pretty amazing individual donations. Honestly the total was relatively low at the beginning of Saturday morning. When I got back from the ride Bob and Heather both told me the donations had flooded in during the day.

I hope you all take a moment to realize you came together in our rider community and did something special. Making a difference to kids who expect so little, but need so much.

Just think what you can do next year. ;)
