Bumped into member "texascanuck" Friday morning in Terlingua. He was heading out for the day's ride to pop the dirt cherry on his new leftover 2013 Tenere. I headed east after riding that day so never got back to see how he did. I hope he kept the rubber down and showed that gaggle of orange 690's he was riding with what a Tenere can do.

Just missed you as I arrived late Wed night. We need to get a small Tenere group to ride there. I know some good dirt roads to get us partially out there and back. Super slabbing I-10 is no fun.

And then on Saturday you saw me on Bullhead Rd out of Camp Wood...on my virgin off road trip!
That's right I forgot, I should have made my first post a double Tenere spotted occurrence. Bumping into you was really a chance encounter. From Marathon I zig zagged dirt and pavement to Rocksprings solo. Decided to pass through the 3 Sisters on my way home forgetting it was Saturday. Started on RR335 but the slow pirates and traffic congestion was more than I could tolerate so decided to ride dirt over to RR336 to escape it. When I came to the bump gate where dirt started there were 10-12 bikes there. Turns out I knew half of the group well but no prior knowledge of that ride or that they would be in the area and this is about 400 miles from my home.

I was at Stromathon in Llano. About 35-40 bikes attended, mostly stroms of course. There were 4 Teneres, 3 white and 1 silver or gray, not counting you. First time to meet you but as soon as I saw the plate, i knew who it was. Good to finally meet you, however briefly.

The 'ole girl did great. Went everywhere the KTMs did. They were suitably impressed with what the Super Tenere could do. I was surprised of both what the bike and I were capable of. Thanks for the tips SilverBullet. I kept it in Touring mode and TC setting #2 most of both days. I could break the back wheel loose pretty much at will without it getting out of hand. Loads of fun. It was a bit squirrely in some of the deeper sand along river road on day 2, but I found if I stayed standing, my weight forward (hips in front of the pegs), kept up the momentum by staying in the throttle, and let the bike track essentially where it wanted, it was quite manageable in the sand and loose deep pea gravel bits.

I did dump it once early on day one. Combination of me taking the wrong line in a climbing turn (extreme inside) and a washout on that inside I didn't see and couldn't correct for until the front wheel was down in it. We were on N County Rd or Hens Egg Rd or something... I was only doing about 20mph. Bike went down on the left side. Fortuantely, absolutely no damage to me or the bike. ::008:: Just minor scuff marks on the AltRider crash bars and a slightly bruised ego. :-[

Glad your first drop is behind you and was a freebie, no damage, no injury. Forgot that due to ECU flash my T mode is probably closer to your S mode. Speaking of which find your window and get that ECU sent off to AVC8130. The longer you wait the more you will be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner. It really transforms the bikes power.

Spotted. . . . I think. I saw a bike coming, and gave it a wave; rider waved back. Just as it was passing. . . . it appeared to be a Tenere. Black, or a '17 Cobalt. It was travelling E/N on US 67 in Cleburne. I was traveling in the opposite direction.
