Sport mode

What does Sport mode actually do to the bike? In other words, how does it change the throttle sensitivity, does it change the suspension in ES bikes, etc. I usually ride in T mode, but as I was riding around today in S mode I was wondering how simple or complex a change is made when I change it to Sport mode.

The throttle reacts quicker to your input. Doesn't effect the suspension. I use "S" all the time. When/if I try to use "T", I stall it taking off from a stop sign/light. You'll have to recalibrate, or flash your right wrist to fully appreciate "S". :D

Ok got it. I've had the bike a few months and I have stalled it a couple of times in T mode at stop lights. Maybe I'll just try keeping it in S mode for a while.

Teneres are pretty well known for stalling at a stop when they are breaking in. All 4 of my Teneres did it at least once in the first few thousand miles. Mine always happened in S mode. My wife's in T.

It does not continue. Just something young Teneres do.

The maps have been posted before. Here is a direct comparison of rhe s mode map vs a proper tune. Also a shot showing why the jumper mod is scary.

Gunslinger: The timing map FlashTune shows for neutral is not the actual neutral map. So there is not a problem with over advancing the timing with the clutch switch mod. I know this by selectively setting each timing map to all zeros and testing. The map FT shows for neutral is not used in any gear, with or without the clutch mod. My testing was on my 2012, with FT maps from a few years ago. Since FT can (and has) changed data in the past without any warning/notification when they identify an error, the current maps FT supplies may have been fixed. They were not interested in investigating back when I told them about the error.

So in layman's terms, when I switch to S mode the software in the ECU makes the throttle by wire system more sensitive? Note to moderator - don't cancel me due to low technical knowledge :)

If that were the case, I would have been cancelled long ago.

I don't know if sensitive is the correct word. But, in "T", when I apply throttle, and let the clutch out, it's either not enough fuel, or not fuel fast enough. . . . and I kill the motor. In "S", it's perfect; in my opinion. Instantaneous throttle response, minimal wrist movement.

Maybe saying the throttle response is "dummied" down? Your not getting fuel as fast for the amount of throttle twist. Lots of bikes are doing this now with different modes. My current bike has four different ones.

I always rode in sport mode, and "T" mode in the dirt or rain. I liked the slower response when in crappy conditions. Same idea with the traction control. "2", all the time as I didn't want it that aggressive, but "1" in rain. "2", or turned off in the dirt.

I’ve had the S mode remapped. But when I saw how weak the fuelling was on the OEM map it made me suspicious that the T mode maybe the same so I never use T mode. I should have had T mode run up on the Dyno so I knew for sure but I didn’t think of it at the time

Is your S10 stock, or was the ECU flashed?

Not flashed. I've been told that I need to ride one that's been flashed, because it's better. If I didn't like the way the throttle responds, that might be true. As it is . . . . I absolutely love the way my throttle works in "S". So, I have no need to test out a flashed ride. I also love the heavy engine braking that the OE mapping has.
