and France will let us Brits across soon?

Hopefully, with Germany accepting us 'double jabbers' then our French friends will join in and we can book the Chunnel and satisfy the urge to get our 'adventure fix' .... please, please!

What is the travel insurance deal now, as we are out can we still use our enic cards or do we need cover. And will it cover all the covid scenario ?

European bike travel reopening for us Brits would be great! There’s a travel update due on the 15th July, let’s hope there’s some good news in there. Based on current info, the real problem is coming home and the testing requirements. Even green countries are a bit of hassle.

if Spain goes green, I’m heading to the Picos.

EHIC cards are currently valid up until the expiry date on the card. Will it cover COVID, not sure.

We recently cancelled a Picos trip (should have left yesterday), prior to cancelling, one of the girls contacted her travel insurance who stated That she would NOT be covered in an amber country, but said other insurers may differ.

I'm in America, so forgive my ignorance, I do have a question. Do you now need to have a passport to travel into the EU? How hard is it to leave the UK now with Brexit? Granted, I realize there's been a pandemic and closures and all, so a lot probably is left to be sorted. Just curious :).

I should have already been in Bosnia this week mate ... I reckon if they open up by end of August / early Sept then I think I will head off down to Sth France and then just bumble back via the Route Napolean / maybe over the tops to Chamonix and home ... just want to get away and a bit of camping ... fingers crossed for everyone Boris

Once across to mainland Europe there are no active borders anywhere within the *EU. We just need the Passport to cross the water.

There are a few oddities within mainland Europe, like Switzerland and Andorra that are among EU countries but not part of the EU that still have active border controls. Although in my experience bikes rarely get stopped and are just waved through.

Borders in many countries have been reintroduced for COVID purposes.

If you are travelling in EU countries, I think you will need a Green Card from your insurer, you may also need an International Driving Permit and you will probably also need separate travel insurance that covers you for COVID too. You will also need proof of vaccination and some countries will require written proof from the NHS. Don’t forget that you will need COVID tests before you travel both outbound and inbound. Of course, all or some of this will change because the U.K. Government is constantly moving goalposts and back-tracking!
