THESE ARE SOLD, THANKS FOR LOOKING.

I tried! I read the "Use your phone as a GPS thread" and I failed. One rugged phone (tested in swimming pool and passed), and cheap tablet BOGO deal! Includes 2 X 32 GB SIM cards (installed in devices) if you want to buy them and part them out.
========================

Dual SIM, Chinese phone for sale with memory cards and I am throwing in a free Acer Iconia 7" Tablet. I tried to use Android, but just can not use it without being angry and turning into Hulk. Instead of Hulk smashing, I will sell to another rider at a fat loss!

"Original No.1," X2 Model. Yes, that is the name the Chinese called this beast.
5.5 inch Capacitive Multi-touch 1280x720
Qualcomm MSM8916 Quad Core
1GB RAM 8GB ROM
Dual camera: Front 5.0MP, Rear 13.0MP
Dual Sim card
Built-in Wifi/Bluetooth/GPS
Phone was not really used, comes with the original box, USB cord and useless Chinese USB wall charger with the two prongs. The phone works fine, touch screen seems good, Camera was not as good as an iPhone, but I am not sure if that is important to someone that wants a 5.5" rugged and shockproof phablet.

Acer Iconia B1710 tablet has silicone case, Neoprene velcro case, Heavy USB cord and N/ American USB wall charger.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
7 inches Display
Media Tek MT8317T
1.2 GHz8 GB Flash Memory, 1 GB RAM Memory
3.5-hour battery life (not tested, just specs from website)

Both devices have glare-proof screen protector on them, the phone has an extra OEM unused screen protector in the box you can use as a template, if you want to cut out your own. The Acer fits the 7" RAM tablet holder in case anyone is wondering, I can shoot a pic of that if you wish.

I will pack nicely and ship both to Canada or the USA for 115.00 USD all in.

Re: FS: Quadcore Waterproof Android 5.5" with GPS and Freebies

I didn't, I ended up using an iPhone in a dock, and an old Nuvi that I didn't care if it got damp. I am much better accustomed to iOS stuff, and may fart around with an iPad mini and iPhone, this summer, as I have the RAM mounts for them. Failing that, I will start saving 100 per month for a @#$& Zumo. I heard good things about the Garmin software though.

For those interested in using the waterproof phone as a GPS, you can use Google Maps to download sections of maps for offline use. This means that you can be somewhere with 0 cell service or WIFI and still be able to navigate the map and get directions. This was super useful when I was completely lost in the Smoky Mountains with no cell service and no idea WTF I was.

Downloading Google maps is my go-to when traveling outside of the US because the data charges can get ridiculous. I went to this after a $500 charge for a week in one country a number of years ago, when these downloads were fairly new.

The two downsides to be aware of are the time it can take and the amount of memory. When my daughter and I went to South Africa last year, we kept our phones offline and used stored maps. It took a long time on wifi to pre-load the maps for Jo-burg, Capetown, Pretoria, and the Kruger National Park area. Part of the reason is that you need to load large areas as separate tiles. It also chewed up more Gigabytes of storage than her iPhone held.

A related part of this story is to plan spending time deleting those maps on the way home if you won't return to that area again in the near future.

I downloaded CoPilot, Waze, and couple others. My go to right now is COPilot on my iPhone. There is an Android version I downloaded for these devices, but I just prefer the Apple world. CoPilot lets you download different regions of USA, N.America, etc, which is a good option if you are pressed for space.

maps.us works great - search inteface kind of sucks but works iOs and Android
