Another fun ride is Slab City/Julian loop. I did about a 380+ mile loop a few months back from home. The ride through the thermal power plants was amazing. I grabbed a Julian apple pie and was home before 1430. I'm amazed how much these Super Teneres like to peel off the miles!

In all the years of growing up down here, I've never actually been to Slab City. That said, yeah....the Super T is the best touring bike I've ever ridden. It's easily extended my touring career another decade. The bike carries it's weight very well!

So....we have some people that are interested at least...How does a Sunday morning meet up sometime in the next couple weekends at hell's kitchen or the Lookout off Ortega for the first one sound? It's north enough for the northern guys (Jeff, Hal, Chris and Lee) and south enough for Me and Tntmo (what's your name btw?) to meet for a breakfast if we head out early enough. I could meet TNTmo off the 5 somewhere for the ride up.

I'll even offer to buy all youse guys breakfast on my dime for this first one (but I'll expect a collective 5 pieces of Julian pie at some point in the future...lol). :)

The next two Sunday's work for me...not sure about my brother, he'll either post here or text me probably.

Anything work for you guys?

With enough notice I might be able to coordinate my travels to join ya'll. I'm in SoCal about 3 or 4 times a year. Usually riding up from the south/Sea of Cortez and cross over at Tecate or Calexico so all of the above roads are on my way.
Be great to meet you in person SB. Feel free to post up here if you are headed out our way! Seems like we have the makings of a good local group here. :)

I won't be rolling into weekends off for the next few months. I'll keep up on this thread so we can meet up. Rotating shifts sure do cut into the weekend rides!!

Will do. Thought I might be coming in Febuary but plans have probably changed now. I stay in Stanton when in the area.

Available for weekday rides also for those working off shifts. Much nicer riding in the forests and canyons than on the weekend.

No, I deliver gas for a living 5 on/2 off, 5 on/3 off. I'll hit you up in the next few weeks for a weekday ride. Are you apposed to all pavement? I have some big blocks ready to spoon on. I'm a dirt bike guy at heart and am much more comfortable with knobby tires on my bikes. But I have to say the street tires sure are nice on the pavement.

I figure after switching to the "big block" style tires, that's what I will live with for the life of the bike. I will be happy if I can get to where I'm changing the rear every oil change and the front every other rear. I'm sure you know what happens when we venture off the pavement. It always seems like the trail starts off nice. Then miles in you find out you either turn around or have to get through a nasty sand section!! LOL

I have a hard rule to not to use smooth tires in the dirt. I had a horrible crash on my Beta while running 90/10 tires at Landers in a sand wash. I will start a separate thread for that.

I only run 50/50 tires on my tenere. Have never had a problem with them in the rain (even two up) on the road full tilt in corners (the Shinko 804/805 setup is really nice). That said, I am currently running a shinko 804 on the front and one of the last Mitas Dakar E07's in the rear. Such a good combo (I have one more E07 sitting in my office at work...lol). The E07 wear like iron! Really wish they would have left the tire alone....now they have a plus version.

We are all over on this thread....lol....gives us a good list of topics to chat about more in person when we all eventually meet up.

So....I just found out I have monday off for MLK...that make this Sunday or a Monday morning ride possible for me if that works for anyone on this thread! Still waiting to hear whether my brother can make it.

I'm up for a ride on Sunday. I was going to do a north county loop, but I can go south or east.
My plan was Vista, Fallbrook, De Luz, Temecula, Pala and back.
Or out 94, or up Palomar, etc.

Hey Carl,

Waiting to see what my brother's schedule looks like for the weekend. Should know sometime tomorrow. That said, how early do you like to get out?

Hey guys,
I'll report back tomorrow sometime. Bit distracted trying to decide if I want to pull the trigger on one of my classic dream bikes or not... (CB750 "K" bike) Mainly trying to figure out if I can fit all 4 bikes in my tiny ass one car garage... lol

Alright dang it...just saw TB's popup and man it looked like a perfect day to ride....how about this:

Next Saturday there is a SoCAL BDR Movie night at San Diego BMW. It starts at 6PM and goes until 7:30PM. I've been to these and they are nice, small groups of people. There is usually someone that presents and talks about the ride that actually did the ride. It's usually a fun time.

Here's the address:
San Diego BMW Motorcycles - 5673 Kearny Villa Rd San Diego, 92123

How about we ride a few hours in the afternoon (Julian for late lunch/Pie?) and then ride down to the Movie night?

Maybe some of you northern guys can ride down and back together?

Anyone interested?

Hmmm, let me check my schedule. I could possibly do this, then crash at my daughter's place in Cardiff for the night and head home on Sunday. What date, Feb 2?

Crap you're right Jeff. Looks like a heck of a storm all weekend. You could still drive the stang down, have dinner with Maryam and I (and whoever else wants to come hang) before heading over for the movie. There's a good sports bar right down the street from the dealer that we could meet for a bite and to talk bikes....

Maybe we all meet at the Bullpen at 5PM for dinner and then head over to the dealer at 6 for the movie?

Anyone else interested?
